#OnlyJesus by @brianjohnsonm has been on my mind all day. Love the way it sounds on this #nashvillehighstrung. I find myself increasingly hungry for encounters with God in my quiet time. As I'm re-reading the Gospel of Luke, I can't help noticing Jesus stealing away time and again to be alone with the Father. We catch glimpses into those moments every now and then...when the angles ministered to Him after the 40 days in the wilderness and at the Transfiguration. So often after Jesus' moments alone with the Father, we see him working extraordinary miracles—walking on water, feeding 5000, healing ALL the sick. Something tells me Jesus's devotional times were more than just quiet times writing in His journal. In Gethsemane, Jesus prayed that we would know the father just like He does. Revival Starts With ME!
Time Magazine describes this generation, the Millennials as "narcissistic, lazy, coddled and a bit delusional" or rather the "Me, Me, Me Generation!" Yet, "they’re optimistic, they’re confident and they’re pragmatic at a time when it can be difficult just to get by" and it's that optimism, confidence and pragmatism that will ultimately "save us all."
Save. Us. All.
That's the goal of my young adult ministry, in downtown Brooklyn called Transitions, where in the middle of a month synonymous with death, we are experiencing a REVIVAL of historic proportions.
Revive: to make (someone or something) strong, healthy, or active again
to bring (something) back into use or popularity
to return to consciousness or life : become active or flourishing again
The Fulton Street Revival is taking place within the Transitions community and spreading all across New York City. Named after a similar revival that took place over 150 years ago on Fulton Street in Manhattan, the goal of this three week event is to revive the heart of prayer, change and passion for Jesus Christ within this generation. As hundreds of young adults filled the famed Brooklyn Tabernacle auditorium for part one last Friday, it was beautiful to witness everyone literally flourishing in the house of God.
.."planted in the house of the LORD, they will flourish in the courts of our God." Psalm 93:13
Why are we flourishing?
Because the "Me, Me, Me generation" is doing what we do best, putting ourselves first. Recognizing that change has to take place in our own lives first, the kind of change that can only happen as a result of prayer, we are praying for our mission in life as well as the needs of our families, communities, leaders and officials.
Social media also plays a large part in getting the message out via Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. Using the hashtag #FultonStreetRevival, we are uploading original content and posting stickers all across subways and landmarks in NYC.

The VOICE season two contestant and gospel music artist Anthony Evans Jr. will lead worship for Part 2 on Friday, October 18th at 392 Fulton Street in downtown Brooklyn.
