The well of fame for these Sheffield based brutes has been bubbling across the fill line for the past few years, This Is The Six from 2012 pushed their incredulous touring schedule following their first mini album past heights I doubt the band ever pictured themselves brushing with their mere fingertips. Now here in 2015 the well has had a sudden surge and their talent had begun spilling out over the world, if you don’t believe me then all you need to do to see my words come to life is take a spin on brand new album Brainwashed.
The first look into this album came in the form of a compilation CD featuring first single “New World Torture”; on show here was a maze of twists and turns in terms of tempo and tone which ripped you a new one with each drastic switch; everything you could want is present with the impressive riffs, heavy drops, melodic spells, catchy vocal lines the full works, truly a testament to the sheer range of the bands material. Even the interludes - which are normally a source of anger for me as the point is usually lost on me – are that well thought out and crafted that I did not skip ahead, “The Divide” and “Kangaeuzu Ni” both have a more soothing feel, sort of a break from chaos if you will that whilst driving along actually eased the stress I was feeling, who knew a collected 2 minutes 13 seconds between the both could actually have caught my attention.
We have your bruisers like “Brainwashed”, “Method In Madness” and “Torment” leading the force with less intense oddly soothing melodic styles shown in “No Sides, No Enemies”, “Modern Minds” and “Four Walls” the vast range to their talent shows no end. This could be their chance to break out after their fan base has been growing and growing constantly, this could be the push they need to take on those massive headline tours and cement their place in history, if they don’t succeed to at least an arena level, then I will be extremely disappointed.
