TALLINN – Later fastest wireless network Wi-Fi will be replaced by Li-Fi wireless network that is claimed to be faster 100-fold. The first time, this technology was tested outside the laboratory and so far has shown satisfactory results.

Velmenni one startup which was a finalist in the competition startup Slush 100 in Helsink have tried to apply this technology. As reported by IBTimes, Wednesday (11/25/2015), they tested the Li-Fi wireless technology in their office in Tallinn, capital of Estonia.

With Li-Fi data transmission can reach speeds of 100Gbps, is a remarkable number compared using Wi-Fi only have a maximum speed of 600 megabits per second. It is conceivable, when you do a movie download high resolution only needed a few seconds.

“We’re doing some experimental projects in different scopes that allow us to apply the technology of VLC (Visible Light Communication),” said Deepak Solanki, CEO of Velmenni.

“If testing of Li-Fi technology is successful, then this technology will be commercialized possibility next 3-4 years. Users can use a Li-Fi transmitter LED lights as the Internet connection,” he said.

Before this technology was introduced to the public at large, today’s devices must be equipped with technology that can receive data from the light Li-Fi.

They also said, to create a new network system is not easy, must find a way to integrate the new system with the system which has been found to exist today.

For information, Li-Fi technology invented by Professor Harald Haas of the University of Ediburgh, in 2011. It was explained that the Li-Fi technology can be applied in LED lights and can replace Wi-Fi technology that exists today. He also added that the existing infrastructure can be integrated with Li-Fi technology.
