well im pleased to say that despite the many ups and downs it had, revice was able to mostly stick the landing, at least as well as it possibly could have given the 20ish episodes that came before it. i've been so entirely apathetic to almost everything this show's been doing for months now, so for it to spend its last two episodes zeroing in on the themes and concepts that made it so promising at the start and make me cry, when i fully thought there was nothing left this show had to offer, is a really nice note to go out on
i don't really have much to say in terms of a full series review that i haven't already said before. toy schedules, production meddling, and screenwriter inexperience derailed this show harder than maybe any other toku i've ever watched. it's a shame that it ended up the way that it did when it was always clear that revice could be great when the stars aligned. i've always said i have a fondness for when a show's ambition supersedes its execution, and you can just feel a series giving it its all even if it doesn't wholly come together in the end. that's why shows like saber, zero-one, ginga, turboranger, etc. feel special to me. revice doesn't really reach that level for me, it's too inconsistent for too much of its runtime, but the highlights like tamaki's redemption arc, everything about sakura and hana's story, destream's debut, and now this finale will stick with me as great pieces of kamen rider's history despite it all
im very ready for something new and fresh, but i feel good knowing i can walk away from revice happy for having watched it
