I’d like to cover the topics of paints. What kind of paints I use,  the different brands, and what I use them for. First lets talk about paint brands, and the different kinds you can use.  Now there is a lot of paint you can choose from out there on the market. To keep it simple a few brands that you really can’t go wrong with are Gumbacher, Revees, and Winsor & Newton.  In my opinion if you stick with these three you are good to go.

The main two that I personally use are Gumbacher, and Revees. I have a water color Gumbacher set I got when I was seventeen years old, and I still use it. I’m thirty-four now so that shows you these paints can last. I find that the colors are very bright, and reproduce really well when you scan them into your computer. The negatives with these paints are there is no white color included with the tray set. This set of paint will run you around 30 dollars.

The next one I use is Revees paints, and their water color paints usually come in a pack of tubes.  They also have bright colors which reproduce well when scanned into a computer.  They are affordable  and easy to find paint sets. The draw back with them how ever is where they come in tubes they don’t last as long as a tray set. Also if you happen to break the cap, or leave the cap off. The tube will dry out, and then you have to split open the tube.

Revees also makes acrylic paints similar to their water colors as they come in a set of tubes.  These paints I usually combine with the water color depending on the effect I would like to achieve. Also you can thin down these paints with water to get a water color effect.
