Mud Flats - March 2023 There has been a LOT of rain this winter in Arizona. The retaining ponds have filled again and again with storm runoff. There has been just enough time between “winter storms” for the water to drain away into the thirsty ground. But the bottom of the ponds and spillways remains muddy. I thought this picture of the empty pond with the low mountains in the background made a very interesting image. The strange car next to the mud is a desert buggy. He came roaring in just as I was getting ready to take the picture, so I waited to see if he would go slipping and sliding across the mud. He didn’t, but was still a good element of the image. The second image is a blow-up of a portion of the first image to more clearly show the desert buggy. MWM
