“Okay mom,” kihyun likes to act like he isn’t listening. he’s got half a hotdog in his mouth and one finger scrolling over his phone. he pays her no attention but if he were a dog his ears might have perked up at her words. his body has a way of outing him like that. he pretends not to notice chahee when she walks over, pretends not to give a shit when she scolds him, curses him, hits him. he just continues to focus his energy on the hotdog and the phone. one becuase the phone is the source of all their problems. two, because in a few minutes he’s probably going to have to focus all his energy on whatever conversation they’re about to have.

chahee’s not like his mom. not at all. inf act he’s not even sure why he says the comparison. kihyun’s mom doesn’t exactly scold--- they’ve got people for that. kihyun’s mom does it all with her body really, her words have more of a pluck than a sting, pulling submission out of his skin like a tube. chahee isn’t so clean, she isn’t so careful either. her words are to the point and don’t leave him wallowing in regret, which is why he sits there searching for the right video before a chorus of laughter and bad quality music starts playing from his phone. the hot-dog is just about gone and the look on his face is immense satisfaction at his childishness.

The sky was as charming as spring when intermingled with summer, both overlapping, covering each other’s flaws with their own strength. The wind was void of pollen, but the sun bearable enough to lounge about without the stifling heat. Her shoulders exposed, Kyungri sunned herself on a tuft of thick grass that itched her ankles. Working at a corporate building enclosed within four walls had a way of making her crave fresh air. The park was empty, it was a working day for the citizens, and she found peace in the sparse company, save for the presence beside her, sitting so close their knees pressed against each other though there was plenty of space around them. The contact was more than welcomed.

Sober thoughts hardly disclosed any personal feelings. You wouldn’t get a word out of her lips unless they were soaked in soju. Her standing within the Bank meant scandals would be nonexistent and rumors far and few in between, though she’d never voice herself to be defamatory, more so it was the heavy cloud of turmoil that loomed above in her everyday life. The consistent disappointments that are bottled into professionalism – building until the pressure becomes unbearable. Letting off some steam in the gym was nice, but beating up a smug street rat was even better.

Yet today passed in an altered reality, time moved at a leisurely pace, blanketing the atmosphere with something serene and honest. Kyungri finds herself falling victim to it’s spell.

“Somewhere you can start fresh, be who you want to be, be who you always were. You can lie, or tell the truth, dress one way or the other, not worry about running into someone you hate…God. I’d do anything to do that. Even if it’s just for a day or two.” Lithe shoulders sink into a brief reverie: she is in Paris, sipping coffee and and making her cute french waiter laugh, but an idea strikes, and suddenly Kyungri finds herself gripping Chahee’s wrist.

Bruises, drench clothes, his cheek is stained with blood andit’s probably the reason why he looks so pitiful. Leo didn’t need to be toldtwice upon the fact that he needed to stay put and lower his head wheneverthere is an upcoming event around their little elite society. The communitythat he was raised in was nothing but people with common interest, respect, andpower because of money and fame, he can’t deny that he’s born into one as well,most of his friends are, too, but that doesn’t mean that he would have anythingin common with those folks that only knew how to take what they want withoutthinking of the greater good.

It is probably the reason why some of them are in terms withthe association that he’s in, bounded by blood, and constrained with the ideaof justice prevailing along the way. Leo meant it when he said he will try andbe a good leader, but alas, there are just some moments that he needed a team,and today was one of those times that he wished he asked someone to come alongwith him.

But that’s already a thought for another day as he standsright in front of the new home that he managed to familiarize himself with,Chanhee’s. Although he was already warned by Hanjae not to befriend with hisnew possession, Leo isn’t entirely a man who follows the rules and they bothknew that already; Leo would do anything he wants without having to think ofany consequences, because truth be told, he trusts himself more than he trustssomeone else, or anyone, in that particular sense. He keeps his eyes on her,the woman in front of him with a hand placed over her forehead to push herinside her house, walking steadily, making sure that he’s coherent enough tomake way to her couch. “Tend to my wounds, will you?”

There were no words exchanged between them after that, notbecause he hates talking but he’s reserving his energy for something useful,and he wouldn’t lie, he’s already too drained to even think of anythingelse.  “You can’t even kill a fly, howcan you do that?” He snorts at her reaction, unable to look away as he watchesher clean his wounds, he isn’t even wincing at the press of the alcoholanymore, he’s too numb to care either.
