I has a sad.
My bike got a flat today, on my way to work. A chunk of glass at least two inches long punctured it quite thoroughly, and since the area I was in is not serviced by the city's public transportation during non-peak hours, I had to turn around and walk home. Two miles, blistering Houston heat, I soaked through every layer of clothing walking the bike along. I should start carrying a spare tube with me, but there's no room left in my backpack as it is, and I don't trust saddlebags to keep anything important.
Fortunately, my sweetie came to my rescue, managing to arrive just seconds before I reached the front door, and she fetched me cold water while I called work to let them know I was late, she put things up while I took The World Record Fastest Shower Ever, then she drove me to work. I clocked in seconds after the clock showed the hour, and was at my desk just fifteen seconds before I would have been officially late for my shift. I have never, ever been late for my shift, and that record was maintained today against all odds.
Oh, and where I got the puncture? Look on my posts yesterday, you'll see my photoset about road conditions in Houston. That second one, where I show all the broken glass? That's it. That exact spot, where I mentioned years of unswept broken glass, is where a piece of broken bottle glass gave me a flat today. That's the opposite of irony.
My day was not off to a good start. But, my baby made it all better. MWAH!
