Right out of the gate, i’m gonna say that this one is gonna be less involved than the Shoot-O one, but i am gonna talk about opinions on top of headcanons. I don’t know TMNT, so i’m not gonna be able to comment on that. (Once again calling the player character “Killer” bc that’s what i call them.)

I do like Reptical. I think he’s a really good character to have in the game just to keep the 90s themes that you get from the arcade. I would have liked even more 90s themes throughout other parts of the game, but that’s whatever. On that note, he is a tiny bit of an outlier, but interaction with him beyond the first boss fight/s is kinda optional, so that kind of remedies itself.

I get big gecko vibes from this guy. His eyes seem like they were designed after gecko eyes, and i feel like he would have the setae that Earth geckos have on his hands or maybe his feet. Not too certain if ALL Lizardonians would have that, or if it’s based on what exact species an individual is (like how the Gatlians are all different, but are still all Gatlians). On the other hand, he wears fingerless gloves and would probably accidentally latch onto things when he doesn’t mean to if he did have setae, so i’m not certain on that. I like the crests that he has over his eyes, and i like the way that his snout is shaped: very lizardy. I can appreciate his frills, even though they’re not particularly “lizard.” They’re more “dragon,” which is kind of fun to see, since dragons are usually seen as reptiles anyway. I also dig that his hands have three fingers each.

This is more of a headcanon for his design than for him specifically, but i feel like the goal was to appeal to furries. I’ll say that he is better “furrybait” than what they label some Pokemon as, but i don’t know that he’s quite furry enough. He’s kinda a little bit too humanoid for me to say that he is a good furry character, but i guess they had to appeal to normies as well, so i suppose i can’t blame them. It’s a good start, definitely, but i think they could have used consultation from a couple more furries to make him poifect. The four arms is a big plus for that, he’s bigger than humans, and the knife tail is also kinda tasty. I think if he was a bit more forward leaning, maybe had some spikes along his back and digitgrade legs, then he’d be better. And just to get it out of the way, i would personally give him those other lizard things if i were to draw him like that, but i am a classic scalie myself, so that just appeals to me. (iykyk, don’t worry about it)

I think he probably started out bounty hunting when he was young, kinda like Killer. Maybe it was something where he was hanging out with friends, they got up to mischief, he accidentally killed a guy, and it turned out that guy needed killing. And he picked up the profession after that. And when he got some money from it, he opened his skateboard shop because that was what he actually wanted to do with his life. He does give up bounty hunting at the end of the game, so that’s why i think that last part might be what it was, because “having a skateboard shop, and THEN becoming a bounty hunter” doesn’t really make sense to me. He doesn’t really seem to have the right kind of personality for it: very loud and gloaty and i don’t think those things lend well to hunting people down. But i guess i don’t know.

I can always appreciate a gloaty rival. I love characters like Jet the Hawk and Revali. I think it’s interesting that he DOESN’T say that he’s better than Killer: he says that all of the other bounty hunters looked up to them. I would have liked something like “i’m going to be the best bounty hunter in the galaxy once i take your ass in!” kind of thing, but i don’t hate what he does have. His voice is really annoying in those first fights, but that’s kinda funny. I like the way he talks.

Um, i don’t know if he currently does hard drugs, but i do think he’s probably done drugs in the past. That might include humans even, as he said his brother smoked humans. (Quick aside, i wouldn’t be able to tell you how many siblings he has. He might have dozens, idk. However many he has, he must have been close with at least that one brother to have had his death affect him so much…. Wait, i guess he said he OD’d, he didn’t say he died…. huh…) So anyway, i don’t think he currently smokes humans. In an alien landscape, it’s kinda hard for us to know what drugs do what: he doesn’t seem like he does furgle, though. I couldn’t tell you if his vape was tobacco or marijuana or what, but i think we only see him smoke it once, right??

Now i called it “hard drugs” to delineate between something like humans and furgles, and stuff like tobacco and marijuana and even alcohol. He vapes, so we can assume that whatever it is some proximity of a drug. On top of that, he does sell “under the table” stuff to you, so i wouldn’t be surprised if he did have some relationship with “semi-bad” drugs (like marijuana in a USAmerica-type setting). He clearly cares when drugs are hard enough to get someone hurt, but i think he might be a little bit zonked himself. Idk, i don’t like that he vapes, i think it’s probably the dealbreaker as to why i don’t like him more than i do, bc tbh he’d probably be my type if it weren’t for that :///

Um. I think that’s all i’ve got for Reptical. If i think of anything else, i’ll add it in a reblog.

Moving on to Samy’s oc Repticala, who is a female clone of Reptical: i like her a lot. I think the expansion upon Reptical’s original design to be something new was very nicely done. I very much appreciate the addition of powerful feminine forces in this franchise, and it seems we all just have to do that with fanart, since the female representation in canon is really to be desired. (But that’s a rant for another time.)

I think the idea of her being a clone is really cool. I do headcanon that Reptical and Repticala act kind of like siblings, but i am excited to see more interactions between them in the comics that are coming! 🙂I like her katana, i like the skater accessories that she has. I would like the drawings of her to be a little less gratuitous, but it’s not really my place to tell you not to do it: i just don’t personally find that appealing. But i understand that it’s furry art, and i can appreciate that it isn’t as graphic as it could be. Keep doing what you’re doing, i support you all the way!

So far it looks like she likes skateboarding as much as Reptical does, but for some reason i get the idea that she also likes surfing as well. I think that could be a fun addition to the character: good for giving her different outfits, like wetsuits and bikinis. She seems like she takes the bounty hunting job more seriously than Reptical does, but that might just be my interpretation. I think it could be fun if she picks up all of the bounties that both she and Reptical would have after he decides to retire. To be honest, Repticala is way more badass than Reptical is, and i love her for that.
