When straight guys complain that having Jaskier be queer is only going to continue to force straight men that are flamboyant, sensitive, a bit feminine, and into arts to continue to have to "contend with gay rumors" all their lives...
Dude, I'm a pansexual woman that's been in a monoamorous relationship with the same man for 17 years...
All my life, I've had to contend with "gay rumors" each time I was in a relationship with a girl, and "straight rumors" each time I was in a relationship with a man.
I get it, it's annoying to have to constantly correct people on your sexuality, because they assume they immediately know what it is based on your physical appearance, your behavior, and/or the people you're dating.
It sucks to have your sexual orientation be invalidated, and have people tell you things like "Well, if you haven't been with a girl for a whole decade, how would you know you still like them? Clearly, you're into men now, and you're just claiming to be pansexual for attention, and to escape your straight privileges!"
Yeah, it hurts, and it is wrong.
We agree.
But sadly, until society finally learns to respect people's right to define their own sexuality without needing to show proof (not that they'd believe it if it doesn't fit their narrative anyway), those poor boys will just have to answer "no, I'm straight" when people ask them if they're gay.
We'll be glad to have you help us fight the source of the problem, by advocating for more queer representation and inclusion in TV shows, movies, plays, etc., to help normalize queerness, and make sure that "being gay, queer, etc." stops being treated as something negative, insulting, or shameful.
Plus, a pansexual character reinforcing the belief that all artistic and flamboyant men are gay is a laughable concept; given that Jaskier is no closer to being gay than being straight. But hey! One step at a time, wouldn't want you getting even more confused...
