"You can support animal rights without supporting veganism."
Let's just break that down shall we:
Animal rights: Not to be confused with animal welfare. An ideology and movement against the exploitation of animals. (+)
Veganism: A principle and movement against animal exploitation and against taking part in exploitation in everyday life, where vegans "live as closely to the ideal as personal circumstances permit."Â (+)
The only difference between animal rights and veganism is that veganism actually asks humans to -do- something about animal exploitation.
And for those who say veganism is diet-centric: The animal agricultural industry is the biggest source of animal exploitation. It currently kills and exploits more than 50 billion non-human animals every year and it is growing. (+, +)
You want to shirk dealing with the largest cause of non-human animal exploitation, and still call yourself part of a movement against animal exploitation? And not expect criticism?
