It's fucked that I spent 15-23 entangled with a shitty older man and then 25-32 as a full-time caregiver for my parents while also being disabled myself for all of it. It's fucked that my mom had a brain hemmorhage right when my stepdad started dying of lung cancer. My entire young adult life was eaten by bullshit. I got two years of reprieve to "be in the club," so to speak, and like a third of that was spent going to therapy and doctor's appointments
I'm just kinda emotional. This is the first time in a long while where I can imagine a future where I can have some measure of control of my life
If any of you are invested in my life but haven't already talked to me one on one or followed me to other platforms, my mom is going back to long-term care. She had a pretty severe decline in the back half of 2025. Her care needs increased a lot. We did qualify for more support after that, but it's still insufficient, and being at home is hurting more than helping. She's stuck in a hospital bed 24/7 here. The LTC home is wheelchair accessible and has access to a physiotherapist and a million other things that would vastly improve her quality of life
This is more of a downer post than I intended because not updating previously means I had to establish the bad stuff before I could give the good news lmao, but I'm really happy she's finally off the waiting list. She'll be a lot healthier and happier there, and I'll finally have a chance to take better care of myself again instead of being permanently worn down and burnt out
