My heart breaks as much today as it did 3yrs ago, justice MUST prevail, these people didn't lose their lives in vain💚 #JUSTICE4GRENFELL #NEVERFORGET #REMEMBERGRENFELL #72 https://www.instagram.com/p/CBbTwGDhNQZl0JwMVPdRQawMbQ_8Vxkr1nFjmQ0/?igshid=cr8xxtvkwpfe
This is the composition for the campaign posters I was trying to achieve, trying to follow the rule of third with the satirical writing in the top left hand corner, the image in the middle and the remember Grenfell text and eventually final look of the logo bottom centre and bottom right. The text in the top left hand corner correlates with the image in the middle. This one for instance the text talks about the cheaper cladding used for Grenfell Towers last refurbishment and I had calculated that the money that the flammable cladding saved the borough meant that the value for each resident surviving or dead equalled to £488 with a rhetorical question underneath asking it is money over humanity. Thus the image in the middle is a human hand peeling and the peeled skin reveals money. I think this composition works because it is simple yet affected and the negative and white space with the small addition of colour I think makes for a very attractive poster
I wanted to continue using the biology of the hand for the campaign. Instead of using the standard image of a hand I drew skeleton hands in different distressed positions, the skeletons are an obvious connotation of death.
Fig 1 and 2 are the initial drawing for one of the campaign posters, it shows a skeleton couple embracing with one skeleton crying and joining with the other skeletons tears. Like the tree poster I separated the outline from the fill in photoshop and the grey colours give the overall image tone of gloom and sad to match the feelings residents of the tower must have been feeling. Each component (Fig 2, 5 and 6) of the poster was drawn separately that brought together to create the image (Fig 4) with the addition of smoke cloud brushes to add to the eerieness of the situation authority has left working class people in.
Fig 8 depicts a skeleton hand and forearm reaching up to a beam of light which I think is self explanitory
