Continuing my trend of writing fanfiction via meticulously curated music playlists, I guess. This is a follow up and somewhat companion piece to my Kris list. With this one I tried really hard to get as many live/concert recordings as possible, it being a performance in service to Dess's character first and foremost. Also an exercise in creating a diverse lineup of artists out of what was at first mostly a Nirvana playlist lmao (can you blame me though?)

There's a pretty linear story being told here of Dess's early promising years as a budding musician, to her decline, getting LOST, to "coming back." And while the Kris playlist has two separate routes with the same ending, the ending here is intentionally vague because fuck trying to predict a Toby Fox game ending amirite? Still, there's enough to draw your own interpretations.

i remember always feeling excited for December. It was a month filled with joy, family and excitement. I remember the feeling of laying in bed wearing my reindeer pajamas under multiple fuzzy blanket, giddy with excitement for the next day to come. I never dreaded the days like I do now. I used to be filled to the brim with excitement to the point where couldn’t fall asleep. Now, the days drain me to where I no longer eagerly await the next day. I can’t wait to go to sleep again as soon as I wake up in the morning.

December became a new sense of dread for me. It’s a month consisting of constant reminders of loss, loneliness, and emptiness. The darkness surrounds my thoughts and begins to eat me alive. The coldness is so debilitating i struggle to keep warm under my blanket and my mismatched t-shirt with sweatpants i wore the day before.

I never knew people began to decorate the evergreen trees with lights and ornaments of sort to ward off the evils of December, but I don’t think that was our ancestors greatest accomplishments. The colorful lights that sit right outside my windows every December are a haunting reminder of Christmases past. The stupid faux evergreen tree that is shoved into the corner of my living room, tilts with the heaviness of memories of times where life was bearable.

Giving gifts was something that made this time worth it, but it seems as time passes, the less I feel motivated to mind-read what every person in my life wants. I never refined my motor skills either so wrapping the gifts after searching far and wide for a useless gadget that will be destroyed by next year, never worked well for me. I am a perfectionist at heart, but the effort it takes to learn how to wrap gifts for someone who may not be with you next year never felt worth it to me. I’m lucky if i overhear something my parents want, but otherwise I have been settling for gift cards hoping they will use it on necessities.

Working during this time always feels like a pointless effort, I am too exhausted to stay awake during the second half of my shift and too cold to leave my seat to wake myself up, so next to nothing gets done. Depending on my coworkers is a whole other issue when it’s obvious they’re in the same sinking boat as me. Of course the bosses don’t care as they spend their Decembers in Phoenix.

Một năm nữa lại trôi qua. Càng lớn thời gian trôi càng nhanh mà nổi buồn ngày một nhiều, mọi người nhỉ?

Như mình luôn nói, thật đáng tiếc rằng chúng ta đều phải trưởng thành, đều thường phải cười nhiều khi nắng lên và khóc nhiều khi đêm xuống. Mọi người đã quen với điều đó chưa? Mình thì không hẳn, vẫn là thấy thật khó khăn với cuộc sống xa nhà, chật chội và náo nức này.

Hai hôm nay mình về quê, cảm thấy thoải mái lên rất nhiều, mình ngủ rất được, ăn uống cũng cảm thấy ngon miệng hơn. Mình nghĩ sau này, cũng sẽ về một nơi bình dị nào đó, như Đà Lạt hay Mộc Châu, cùng một người sống cuộc đời thật nhẹ, thật nhẹ. Sáng tưới hoa, trưa phơi trà, chiều chăm mèo và chó, tối đến chúng mình sẽ cùng mở đĩa nhạc cả hai thích, pha một tách trà hoa cúc, anh sẽ sấy tóc cho mình, rồi nhàn nhạt như thế mà già đi. Chỉ là không biết bao giờ, thứ mình hằng mơ mới được thực hiện...

Một năm qua, mọi người có đạt được điều mình mong muốn không? Dù sao đi nữa, mình cũng rất hoan nghênh vì mọi người đã làm việc thật chăm chỉ, mọi người đã vất vả nhiều rồi nên hãy luôn lạc quan nhé! Nói một chút về mình, thì một năm qua, điều tuyệt nhất mình làm được có lẽ là đậu đại học, dù rằng nó không hẳn là tuyệt lắm. Lúc trước cứ nghĩ, đậu đại học là xong, là tự do, là hạnh phúc rồi, thật không ngờ, đó chỉ là khởi đầu của mọi phức tạp và cô đơn. Nhưng mình vẫn ổn, thật đó, dù có hơi than vãn nhiều với mọi người qua tumblr hì hì. Mình đang quen hơn với bạn bè mới, môi trường mới, quen cafe một mình và kể cả sự ngột ngạt của thành phố.

À, mình cũng chưa rung động với ai suốt năm qua cả. Mình nghĩ mình còn trẻ, nếu không muốn nói là còn nhỏ, mình không quan trọng chuyện yêu đương lắm dù mình luôn thấy cô đơn và trái tim luôn buồn như thể thất tình vậy. Thêm nữa là khi yêu có lẽ mình sẽ yêu rất nhiều, cho nên mình không ngại đợi lâu, chỉ sợ không đúng người, rồi đau.

Gia đình mình một năm qua, coi như tạm ổn đi, không có cuộc cãi vã nào lớn cả :)) chỉ là mẹ vào chăm cháu, nên ba ở một mình :( hy vọng một năm mới đến gia đình mình sẽ ổn định hơn.

Haizz, mình chỉ muốn thỏ thẻ một chút trước khi ngày đầu của năm mới. Mong rằng chúng ta sẽ có một năm nhiều nụ cười hơn. Chúc tất cả hạnh phúc.
