The sentence wasn’t finished, for the woman he called his mother instantly raised her hand to indicate a slap which left the young boy with fear in his heart, a shriek escaping his mouth and wide innocent eyes that stared at the other while his own hands were raised, as if to protect his body from a possible threat.

And he was on the verge of opening his mouth again to question just why exactly he wasn’t supposed to ask questions; he wasn’t talking back, did not even understand the concept of rebelling against authorities all he wanted to do was find out what he was doing wrong and what was causing his mother to be so endlessly frustrated with him.
