“Did you really get such a strategic mind from reading?” She questions, eyeing him over the attack plans against their enemy overseas. Armin certainly was a big help when it came to these meetings, though they became less and less frequent as her subjects swapped industry and made preparations.
“ Ah? ” He lifts his gaze from the battle plans, taken aback by the off topic inquiry. Once, it was difficult to imagine Historia as the queen, but these days, it’s sometimes more difficult to remember that the queen is Historia– the same girl who fought beside Armin and the rest for years. They trained together, ate meals together, spent countless nights around the fire. Armin had even served as her body double once, but everything changed at the drop of a hat the moment she became queen. ‘Historia’ transformed into ‘your majesty’, and formalities took precedence over the bond between teammates. It’s rare that any of them is permitted to see her, let alone speak with her one-on-one, and even in those cases, a handful of guards is always nearby.
“ I wouldn’t contribute it solely to that, but I suppose reading did play a role. ” That role being the absorption of information. A person can learn just about anything from a book. Science? Check. Politics? Check. He’d even been fortunate enough to learn about the outside world. But there’s more to strategy than having a plethora of knowledge. One needs to be observant. Analytical. Able to take what’s been given and use it to one’s advantage. That part has always come naturally to Armin. “ Reading teaches you to think, but I suppose I’ve always been somewhat perceptive. It’s the little details that really make a difference strategically. ”
