“Does Hillary trust voters?”

The night after the West Virginia Primary finds the cast of CNN wondering how a voter could first support Obama, then support Bernie, then consider supporting Trump but not be able to support Hillary Clinton.

There were some interesting concepts discussed, for instance outsider vs. establishment, populist vs. establishment and gender issues. Perhaps the voter in question was biased against women?

One concept that did not come up was the issue of trust. Hillary Clinton has an issue with “voters trusting her” but if you flip that around and ask “does Hillary trust voters?” there may be more to the story.

Take Hillary Clinton’s paid speeches to Wall Street and other special interest groups. Does Hillary trust the people to understand that what she said to these groups could provide Republicans with material for attack ads? Does Hillary believe keeping the transcripts of her speeches secret will help her cause against Bernie Sanders? Does Hillary believe voters will understand her speeches and still supporter her? Does Hillary have enough trust in her supporters and the people of America to come clean about who she is and what she said in these paid speeches? It would seem the answer is no, Hillary does not trust Americans enough to share with them the transcripts of her paid speeches.

 As noted in much of the political reporting, Hillary Clinton has an issue with people trusting her. Could it be however, the truth that is she has an issue trusting the people? If this is a possibility, one could imagine a voter feeling disconnected from Clinton, possibly insulted and clearly not willing to cast a vote her direction.
