Getting the boot from Seph’s place tonight, Ash ended up with the rest of the Davidson pack at Alice’s. It wasn’t quite as luxurious as what he had grown used to while missing, but it was still pretty damn cozy and lush. He thought he could get used to this fancy way of life. Especially with the abundance of expensive alcohols among other luxuries. Rich people had it real good.

Kicking back on the couch with a complimentary bottle of Alice’s bourbon, he lights up another blunt as he makes himself right at home. However, his high is soon ruined by Eric’s rather unwanted presence. Every time he saw this douche, he wanted to kick his teeth in. “You mind, asshole? I’m havin’ myself a little party here and you ain’t invited.”

“ don’t get too comfortable.” 

The comment earns a laugh as Ash sits up to look at him with a taunting smirk. “A bit too late for that, champ. Already very comfortable in my brand new home. I think I’m gonna like it here.” Oh, how he loved being the source of that pissy look on his face. Eric had made it very clear he didn’t want him nor Sadie anywhere near his pack, but Tabs had reassured him they were basically in already. Just had to wait for the man in charge to extend the offer.

Magic lessons with Evie and Seph were going about as well as expected. The girl needed a lot of polish before she would be anything resembling a witch, but for a newbie she wasn’t too terrible. Just a little unfocused and all over the place. Evie knew how to do a couple of very basic spells, but they were nowhere on par with what Bonnie and Seph could do with about a fraction of the concentration and energy that she was using.

“Alright, let’s take a break.” She says before turning her attention to their novice. “You need to refuel. Why don’t you go grab lunch and we’ll resume this in about an hour?” 

Once they were alone, Bonnie pours each of them a scotch. “She needs a lot of work, and we’re on a bit of a clock here. So I’m hoping she’ll be able to pick up on things pretty quickly.” Of course, she had no idea when another attack would occur. Could be today, could be tomorrow, could even be a month from now. There was no telling when this guy would make his next move.

“I don’t suppose your chat with Leonardo changed anything, did it?” If it had, this would all probably be over by now but it was wishful thinking. Unfortunately, nothing was ever that simple in Mystic Falls. Especially when the villains were so damn motivated. 

“Funny how he justifies doing all this for his dead wife when all she wants is to be at peace with him. What is it with men and their revenge fantasies?”

Returning with two cups of coffee in hand, Jared passes the second off to Alice as he takes a seat across from her. From the looks of her, it had been a rough day, or more accurately, a rough couple of weeks. In some ways, he knew exactly how she must feel; like she was torn between two sides and her relationship with one was affecting the other. Yeah, he knew a little something about that.

“You know, when Rebekah and I first started giving into our feelings for each other, Klaus hated it. Even more so when we made it official. He saw it as a betrayal from both sides, even though my feelings for his sister never changed the loyalty I felt to him. Not just as my sire, but my friend. So for the longest time I felt torn, almost like I couldn’t just have both. In the end, my relationship with Klaus crumbled because he couldn’t stand the thought of us together,” he muses, taking a sip of coffee before continuing. She was probably wondering why he was even bothering to tell her all this.

“Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that I understand. I don’t really like Quinn much, but you obviously have feelings for him when you know that you probably shouldn’t and that puts you in a weird position with some of your friends. Rebekah, specifically.”

Jared nods in agreement to that. Didn’t he know it? Both had developed feelings for people they were never supposed to and as a result, life got complicated. It happens, and for him, he never really looked back. He was sure that Henrik probably didn’t like it, but right now it seemed as if her and Rebekah were the ones in a weird place. If he could prevent their friendship from going to same way of his and Klaus’s though, then he would try.
