BASIC GIST.

plot

long ago, there were 5 sacred time gears, located at the heart of the world. gathering mana from the earth itself, these gears helped power magic throughout the world via the world tree, whose roots spread far and wide, through land, ocean, mountain, and desert. it was a time of peace, harmony, and discovery for all nations and races.

however, humans, beginning to develop technology rapidly, decided to expand their territory, under the guise of “spreading” their “glory”. this was actually just propaganda, and in actuality, the human race were seeking to colonize and dominate other nations in order to take more resources to further their innovations.

fearing the worst, five non-human races decided to each take a time gear, assigning generational guardians to protect them, and sealed the gears away so that humans could not be able to reach them

the story takes place 500 years after this all began, with the world basically being a fantasy - esque version of our current political world ; things seem peaceful to those who live in ignorance, but marginalized races colonized by humans are struggling with poverty, oppression, etc.

depending on whether or not the big bad is played by a muse, they can either be the current leader of the human nation + its colonies seeking to carry on their people’s legacy, seeking the five time gears to further expand their rule, OR they could possibly be a sympathetic villain who hails from a marginalized group who wants to use the time gears to go back and prevent the human race from committing these heinous crimes in the first place but who became misguided along the way (?).

if it’s the latter, i prefer a mun who is a poc to play this character or help write it because i’m tired of white ppl writing this “sympathetic oppressed villain” angle and failing miserably

it’s up to the four heroes to collect all the time gears ! if the former villain story is used, then they’re going to collect them to help the human nation because propaganda and censorship led them to believe that the human cause was just and it truly was them trying to help. if it’s the latter, then it’s the same gist except the humans are puppeteering the heroes to “defeat” this “villain” because they actually have no idea that this person’s actions are motivated by centuries of oppression.

cast

four heroes ; different races + classes preferred since it would be nice to have diversity and different viewpoints coming from the main cast

they can either start out all knowing each other or we can start with just one or two heroes and then 

five “boss” characters

one of them is tooru :^) he’s the boss that’ll appear during the climax of the plot and reveal to the heroes that they’ve been the antagonists all along

preferably played by muns in minority groups, specifically muns of colour, since the boss characters are going to be non-human and their arcs / characterization will revolve around how people react to oppression / normalized colonization in society

NPCs

shopkeepers, royalty, etc ... if you’re someone who doesn’t want to be too involved in the plot, this is perfect for you

anything is possible tbh you can do whatever you want

hell you can even be love interests for the main cast if you wanna ship ohoho

a basic group verse its members can interact in and post opens to under a general tag

very chill n relaxed, there’s no pressure tbh

be sure to interact with everyone ! while the plot itself is linear, interactions don’t have to be. due to how RPGs work, i don’t want characters who appear later on to wait like 3 weeks for the plot / threads to progress so they can finally show up. instead, you can have one plot where your character first meets another, and then another where the two of them are fighting a boss or in a town or something.
