Starting back in England in the 1960s when you bought a box of Red Rose tea, a little ceramic figurine could be found tucked inside. βοΈ It was a whimsical promotional collaboration between the centuries old pottery Wade Ceramics, and Red Rose Tea that was both cute and functional. The bottom of the figurines were grooved so that they could be used as match strikes. When it was time to put the kettle on , the little little figurines were at the ready to light the stove. βοΈ This fun promotion was meant to just have a limited run, but yea drinkers all across England loved the figurines so much they wound up becoming one of the most beloved things about these two brands. Needles to say, collectors for the past six decades have continued to be enchanted by the Wade figurines so much so that Red Rose launches a new series of characters every few years. π In the 1980s, this collaboration crossed the pond and debuted in America to equal fervor and excitement. Included in that first US run was this handsome little jackrabbit. A charmer from day one itβs lovely to think heβs just about to turn 40 and still looks as cute and shiny as he did the moment he said hello to his first American kitchen! If youβve fallen in love with this little guy too, pop by the shop to see more Wade miniatures! We are super excited to be open again with limited inventory from our road trip adventures:) . . . . . #wadefigurines #jackrabbit #figurines #rabbit #redrosetea #wadengland #vintagecollectibles #vintagekitchen #tealovers https://www.instagram.com/p/CZxkmtJu-I0/?utm_medium=tumblr
