“HUSSLE”
by Levi Ponce
"He saw a community that, even through its flaws, taught him to always keep going. His choice to invest in that community rather than ignore it . . . is a legacy worthy of celebration." —@BarackObama
Eritrean-American Ermias Joseph Asghedom, widely known as rapper and songwriter Nipsey Hussle, was beloved as an entrepreneur and community activist in his LA's Crenshaw neighborhood, "driven" says @LATimes "to reinvest in the streets that raised him and rebuild the community." Nipsey, a major supporter of the mile-long @DestinationCrenshaw art project, was also working with Los Angeles authorities to help end gang violence when he was gunned down outside his @TheMarathonClothing store. Last week Pacoima's @MuralMile founder Levi Ponce—with the help of @mighk_rivera and @redtherazor on the writing—was in Boyle Heights adding this Estudillo Ave work to the many Nipsey tributes popping up around LA. @leviponce/
