IS GERARD WAY PSYCHOTIC
I sent you an ask :3 but I do want to clear it up for the sake of my followers. The short answer is “yes but it’s partial conjecture.”
Disclaimer: this is not a diagnosis of psychosis. It’s a descriptive word. (In the same vein, calling Gerard Way depressed is not a diagnosis of Major Depressive Disorder.) If you disagree with this, that’s OK. I just want it to be clear, I am not forcing a diagnostic label on him.
So — the partially conjecture part is the events of Paramour Mansion during the recording of The Black Parade, where Gerard talks about having visions, and about IIRC the pool ‘calling them over.’ Both of these, to me, have very psychotic undertones. In relation to a LOT of things.
The non-conjecture part: Gerard has talked about hearing voices. This is what Maya The Psychic is about. This tends to almost always indicate psychosis.
I am genuinely uncomfortable speculating on someone’s mental health. I am sticking to things Gerard explicitly said. Whether or not they would want to call himself psychotic is another matter entirely. But he does, to me, fit the criteria for it. Regardless, (not aimed at anyone) if the concept of Gerard Way having psychosis makes you uncomfortable, but you’re fine with saying autistic and stuff, you should examine why.
