Found in parts of the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Vietnam, these crakes inhabit swamps, marshes, rice paddies, and other wetland habitats. They eat earthworms and other invertebrates, picking them from the ground. Their breeding behavior is not known in detail, but may be similar to closely related species which build shallow cup-shaped nests near the ground from grasses.

Red-legged Crake (Rallina fasciata)

...an uncommon species of rail (Rallidae) which is known to occur in Northeastern India, southern Burma, Thailand, Malay Peninsula, Borneo, and other parts of Indonesia. It has also been recorded as a vagrant to northwestern Australia. Red-legged crakes are typically found in area of dense vegetation close to permanent wetlands and will feed on a range of small vertebrates and invertebrates.
