January was more productive than I think I realized. This is why I like these lists. With one more month I think I’ll be caught up and back down to a manageable three/four projects. So cheers to that. (And yup, I am still stuck on Ravenstags because Will Graham is a brat. He’s a damn brat.)

Doing a bit of year end tidying up and thought it might be helpful to make another one of things. I use my Projects in Progress posts as To Do Lists (and I really ought to be better about writing them because they do help). 

Been a while since my last update, which might explain why I’ve fallen so tragically behind editing. I know it’s been a quiet fall from me. Not because I haven’t been writing, but I’ve been too frantic at the job to edit much. 

Anyway, I hope this gives you something to look forward to.

Just something light and fun (and entirely too extra) for @hannibalcreative‘s #ItsStillBeautiful

Summary: After a night at the Opera, Hannibal destroys the sanctity of the bedroom by breaking his husband's #1 rule and Will is having none of it. Rating: Explicit Tags: Non-consensual Poetry, Freak on the Streets, Dante in the Sheets, They Flip! Fluff and Smut Warnings: None

Hannibal rolled his hips in harmony to Will’s sharp staccato thrusts. No matter how many times they played this duet together, Hannibal remained as starry-eyed and disbelieving as the first time Will had lead him by the hand and pushed him down onto the mattress. It didn't seem real and yet too real by the same turn.

He felt so full and whole with Will pressed deep inside him. How he had ever lived contentedly without? I should have taken him the minute his stitches were out, he thought, but when Will smirked and adjusted his hips to better reach his favorite spot, Hannibal took the thought back. It was better this way, being at Will’s mercy (or lack thereof.)

As the moonlight streamed into their bedroom through the open French doors, Hannibal felt more than just his climax rising within him. He bit his lip hard enough to draw a bead of blood and fidgeted beneath Will’s relentless pounding. No, he absolutely mustn't. He had promised to behave in payment for Will’s attendance at the opera tonight, promised on his family name, and as Will so often liked to remind him when negotiating these petty deals in exchange for the simple, civilized, courtesies Hannibal desired, Hannibal always kept his promises.

But Hannibal had not counted on the clear night sky betraying him so profoundly. Moonlight fell across Will’s body like a sheet accentuating his lean muscles and delicate scars. Like Pygmalion’s creation in reverse, the soft light turned his pale skin marble-white transforming Will into a literal work of living art: his art.

Chapter Summary:  Shit get's real, really quickly in the penultimate chapter! (And that's all I'm gonna say about that.)

Chapter 22: Farewell and Adieu

The shark hung by its tail, mouth gaping, as it rotted from the end of a chain. Will felt his former anger rising as he looked on at the diminished form of his adversary. ‘If it’s me that brings the Ripper in, I'm not going to let this happen. I'm just going to shoot him,’ he thought and shuddered. That wasn't a thought that belonged to a cop. It belonged to that monster that had taken up residence inside of him and kept stubbornly pushing its way to the foreground.

Will looked for Hannibal, for his center of balance, and found him helping Michelle down the stairs with her equipment. A feeling that he now recognized as jealousy tugged at him, but his anxiety was quickly soothed by opening his eyes to the wider pitcher. Michelle smiled and flipped her hair like a Baywatch caricature clearly coming onto Hannibal, but Hannibal’s body language was closed off and guarded. After setting down the bags he carried, Hannibal slipped his hands into his pockets and stood at an obvious distance. A confused expression flickered across Michelle’s face. “Where’s my kiss?” she said cloyingly and moved in to kiss him. Hannibal deftly presented his cheek instead, and took her by the hand. “Forgive my rudeness, Michelle,” he said planting two audible kisses across her knuckles. The sound of his lips smacking against her skin made Will’s skin feel clammy.

‘Leave it alone,’ he told himself and turned his back on the pair. Will fired up the electric crane lowered the shark onto a plastic tarp. While he worked, he could hear Hannibal and Michelle chittering in the background in ways that both pleased and aggravated him. “Are you okay, Hannibal?” she asked repeatedly, oftentimes with an accompanying “why didn't you call me?” tacked on to the end. Hannibal navigated the situation as well as expected. He gave plausible excuses, and rebuffed her without offering offense as they still needed her equipment for the autopsy.

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again: this fic writes itself. It just writes itself in real time. (NOT PHOTOSHOPPED We actually have players named Killings and Likely on the team this year. CAUSE WHY NOT?)

Chapter 20: All’s Well That Ends?

“What do you mean you didn’t see ANYTHING?! What were you TWO doing up here all night?”

Will blushed. What could he say? That he had abandoned the stakeout because of a crisis of self?

“We had a breakthrough on the Ripper case last night and grew distracted. You have our sincerest apologies, Chief Brody,” Hannibal supplied with obnoxious self-control.

Brody glared at Will. “It better have been some breakthrough.”

“Oh, it was,” Hannibal cut in practically purring, and Will wanted to dump the chum bucket over his head. See, this? This was the other reason they weren’t going to work. He KNEW Hannibal wouldn’t be able to stop himself. Give him an inch and he took a mile. Restraint was not in that man’s nature. Brody might not know him well enough to pick up on all the little queues, but there was no way they could keep their feelings a secret from the FBI if this kept up. Jack would sniff it out in an instant, and Bev...oh God, he didn’t want to think about what Bev would say. Or Brian. Or Jimmy. Or...Alana. Alana would be the worst.

Will scanned the ocean hoping to catch sight of a shark hungry enough to swallow him whole. That would solve all of his problems, but no dorsal fins poked up above the waterline. The ocean remained as flat as a parking lot.  Fuck. “How about we worry about one nightmare at a time. We still have a shark to kill,” he said parroting back Hannibal’s words before he knew what he was doing. But the point calmed Brody down and allowed the team to call a temporary truce in service of their primary goal.
