Without giving too much away, what do you think about Pathologic 2 so far? It looks interesting but I haven't gotten it yet. (For transparency I also watched the HBomberguy video)
:3c well in terms of “so far” I have now beaten it Twice, so I think my opinion is pretty concrete lol
I absolutely adore it. It’s an incredibly intense experience. The atmosphere is insanely good, the survival is insanely tense, and the revelations of the plot are so exquisite. There are some similarities between the Haruspex’s plot in Patho 1 and Patho 2, but also some really important differences, and so HBomb’s video didn’t spoil the best parts. It’s one of those games I wish I could play for the first time all over again, because the reveals in the last third of the story made me go completely nuts with joy. (Speaking of which: get on the train with Aglaya on Day 10.)
I will say that I recommend playing Pathologic 2 by its rules. On its recommended difficulty. You can’t be scared of the game’s penalties or of letting patients die. It sounds really like edgy to say THE STRUGGLE IS THE POINT but it’s true, because the few triumphs you do scrape together are all the sweeter for it. It’s hypnotic.
Also I’m STILL picking up on new gameplay stuff and new thematic things on playthrough no. 3, so there’s that too :3c
