I have the words “long live the reckless and the brave” plastered anywhere i can find a place to put them and everyone always jokes about because I’m quite the “good girl” who never disobeys or goes against the rules but whenever someone makes a comment about how I am the least reckless and brave person they know

I think about the first time I had an anxiety attack because a restaurant was too full, but grabbed my menu and held back tears while my hands were shaking and sat there the whole time and even became slightly more comfortable as the night went

or the time I jumped up to crowd surf at that All Time Low concert despite the fact that I was terrified I was “too big” and people would mock me.

I think of the time I sang the National Anthem at a highschool football game and threw my guts up and cried until I didn’t have anymore tears to cry afterwards. But still got up there and did it again the next week.

And all the times i stood up for people who didn’t have anyone else to stand up for them even though i knew i was setting myself up for rude comments.

I even think about all of the times that I wore something that was the slightest bit out of the norm and thought about changing at least a million times before I got to the car to leave but never did.

and I’m just like hell yes. I’m the most reckless and the bravest bitch you’ll ever meet and if I don’t meet you criteria of “brave” just because I don’t like to disrespect people or spread hatred then I genuinely feel bad for you because once you realize that recklessness and bravery is self-defined, the world becomes so much more beautiful. Because once you realize that convincing everyone else isn’t as important as convincing yourself and you can look at yourself in the mirror and say “I’m fucking beautiful and brave and everything I have always wanted to be”, everything just gets a little easier.. And thats a great feeling.

This time of year I always take some sort of crazy risk, and it always changes my life. Three years ago, I would have never thought one risk would lead to so many others.
