The place was mostly dark, only partially illuminated by the sparse pattern of ceiling lights that were permanently on. There appeared to be no one in the complex, but it suited her well enough at this time of night. She doesnāt have a warrant to be here. The last thing the commander of Investigation needed was to get found out.
The whole situation was fishy. The store owner did not carry themselves the same way a civilian did. Their moves were way too calculated. Then thereās the fact that their model line was advertised as having modular armor, easy to change and replace for whatever needs suited them. Additionally there was the involvement of some thieves (not exactly Hunter jurisdiction) robbing the place and how adamant the squat reploid wanted their merchandise back. But, no one was allowed to know just what was stolen.
Which was why sheād requested the warrant in the first place. Everything seemed to be going on track until yesterday where they were denied out of nowhere. That only made her suspicions grow. And being approached privately by the local chief of police to investigate something that on the surface appeared as petty larceny, didnāt make anything better.
So, there she was, sneaking around, hand on her buster, risking her career on a hunch, little evidence, and a request. Though, this back area was much bigger than the tiny weapon store advertised. This underground set up is a little more than just a storm shelter, too. Inessa hoped that this stunt wouldnāt get her into trouble, refracting the light around herwith the ice crystals she froze afforded invisibility from the cameras, but others wouldnāt be as fooled with the effort sheās putting in to conserve energy.
The Huntress ducked behind a crate, looking around the container. Damn. She wasnāt alone. Inessa looked up. Good, no camera. She kept hold of the water molecules, but let them naturally heat back up to match the rest of her surroundings, the cold produced from her actions would blow her cover faster than the obscurity the ice granted. Inessa stilled waiting for the sound to leave.
