He really should have cut her off by now, scared her away. But Kale had taught him growing up that being mean to girls is not acceptable. So he was nice, put up with everything she said and how many times she tried to save his soul. Not that it was really saveable but she seemed to persist and he was letting her be persistent. Staring at her from across the table he sipped his coffee as she spoke. Coffee at least once a week with her was what he had kept doing since his brother died. The only thing she wasn’t allowed to talk about was his brother. It was still a sensitive topic for himself.
“Becky, listen, I’m gonna be too brunch hungover to ever go to church. And anyways me stepping into any English speaking church would have my bastard father hunting me down and I do not have the energy to deal with that.” He took another sip and set it down, shrugging a little. “So, you want more coffee? Or food, cause I should eat something.”
