In his last moments, sitting there in the pool of his and his foe’s mingling blood, he’d known he was gone. His mistake in letting his guard down had ended his life, he’d been sure. Even recovery girl wouldn't have been able to save him from that.
But here he was, awake, his world hazy with pain and painkillers and heavy with a weakness he hasn’t ever felt in his life, not even when he’d been a quirkless little boy.
“Young man--” All Might stopped to cough, the effort of speaking still difficult; it was like trying to breathe through a dusty straw. He was keenly aware of the stitches that ran up where one of his lungs used to be.
