For the love of All that is holy!!

Got this update today, on the last year earthquake relief project; four trained people from the expats community went to help in person, literally everyone in town donated goods and money, then this happened: 

"Dear Supporters of Proyecto Samán, We are officially announcing the formal closure of Camp Samán, our transitional settlement for families displaced after the 2016 earthquake on the northern coast of Ecuador. Camp Samán has been dismantled and the land has been returned to its owner. Camp Samán provided refuge for 37 families (more than 120 individuals) over a period of 15 months. While some of the families stayed for a short time, the majority were with us for more than a year. Through donations of food, clothing, medicine, children’s supplies etc. we were able to sustain the camp. All the families lived in transitional shelters with electricity, access to water (and filters), bathrooms, showers, community and garden spaces. None of the families who stayed at Camp Samán paid for any of the services provided, giving them the opportunity to find work and save money in the hopes of getting back on their feet again. Additionally, through Proyecto Samán’s Outreach Program, we were able to help over 1200 people in 9 different outlying regions. The outreach program helped provide food, water, water filters, clothing, medical supplies, medical and emotional support, continued education courses, temporary shelter and more.”
