It's about a man who comes from a poor family - he goes to University to study Agronomy but ends up falling in love with Enlish literature and decides to embrace a scholar's life. The plot might not sound like it's thrilling, but it is an incredibly well written and honest account of this fictional man who is as interesting as he is monotonous. The book was originally published 50 years ago but has had a surge in popularity in recent years, almost attracting a cult-like devotion or fan base.
