“I’m the villain.”

I felt the overall arc was finished, but the ending left me unsatisfied anyway. The ending felt rushed, because it tried to add onto the ever after (because it’s an adult fairytale? and therefore we need to embellish on that). Yet we learned very little about Lady Uma; she got abducted as an infant apparently (which was mentioned off-handedly), and she was a good ruler, and maybe Dunstan Thorn was her true love? The decrepit Witch-Queen was forgiven by Yvaine at the market, and the acorn that would grow into the tree for the cradle of the one that would vanquish her someday had been found somewhere earlier in the book, but nothing got mentioned about that again. Even though Yvaine, the Star, is probably going to live forever, and maybe a foot-note about the With-Queen that tried to kill her would have been interesting? Plot-threads were just left hanging.
