đđŽđŚđŚđđŤđ˛: Inspired by Frank Sinatraâs I Could Write A Book
Castiel canât understand his vessel's sudden disequilibrium around Y/N, so decides to keep his distance from the hunter. But can this new sensation be love? And if so, will a dance help the stubborn angel realize it, or will he forever be blind to the intricacies of humanity?Â
Castiel wandered about the bunker aimlessly, searching for something to do. The Winchesters were on a hunt and had left him behind to hold down the fort.
In the meantime, he was limited to thoughtful walks around the Men of Letters compound until the boys called with an update.
In truth, Castielâs little promenades held more purpose than he would care to admit. Y/N had stayed behind with him but the angel was determined to avoid her.
It certainly wasnât his intention to hurt her, but lately heâd felt different whenever she was in his vicinity. Innocent conversations would make him stammer and accidental touches would send electric pulses racing through him. The sight of her would spark an unfamiliar warmth within him, and frankly it was concerning. Until Castiel could discern Y/Nâs influence on his vessel, he thought it best to minimize contact with her, however disappointing it might be.
It wasnât until the angel strode across the dormitory hall that he heard a strange sound. He frowned as a tinny music filled the air.
Perplexed, he followed the tune until it led him to the library. He stepped inside and gave a small smile at what he saw.
Sitting on the floor with heaps of records sprawled out before her sat Y/N. She was beaming at the dusty collection of disks, and seemed to be organizing them.
âHello, Y/N.â Castiel said.
She looked up and grinned. âHey Cas, whereâve you been hiding?â
The angel frowned and spoke defensively. âHiding? Why would you ask that? I havenât been hiding.â
Y/N quirked a brow. âHey, relax Cas. I didnât mean it like that. I only meant to say that youâve been MIA.â
He looked around the room and observed the record player on the table. âWhat is all of this?â He asked her, cocking his head to the side.
Y/Nâs face lit up and Castiel felt his heart swell. He clutched his chest uncomfortably, but if Y/N noticed, she didnât let on.
âI was looking through some old boxes here in the library and found an old record collection! Some of these disks date as far back as the 1940âs, can you believe it?â
Castiel didnât understand her excitement. The 1940âs really werenât all that long ago, but he supposed his concept of time was different than that of a humanâs.
âThis is all very... fascinating.â He managed to say as he examined a mildew stained record cover.
Y/N giggled at his obvious indifference. âThey might seem unassuming, but the moment you play one... itâs like magic.â
Castiel smiled wistfully at humanityâs innocence and its notion of magic.
âCan I choose one to play?â He asked.
âReally?â
âYes. Iâd like to experience this... magic.â
Y/N smiled. âGo ahead.â
The angel walked around the library, peering at each record cover, trying to choose one that called to him. He found a battered copy of Frank Sinatraâs âI could write a bookâ and picked it up.
âPerhaps this one.â
âCool, letâs check it out.â Y/N stood up and took the disk from him. She placed it on the platter and for a moment there was only static. Castiel furrowed his brows at the mundanity of the device. He was just about to protest when the first few silky notes rose up from the record player.
If they ask me, I could write a book
About the way you walk and whisper and look...
Castiel nodded his approval. âThis is a very pleasing tune. I understand now why humans-â
He paused when he turned to look at Y/N. She was swaying softly, a strange look on her face as she listened intently to Sinatraâs smooth rendition.
âY/N?â He called out to her uncertainly.
She snapped out of her trance. âCas, yeah. Umm... great choice.â
The angel looked at Y/N critically, his sharp focus studying her odd movements.
âWould you like to dance?â
She gave a jolt at his suggestion. âI donât even know how to dance.â
Castiel looked down at himself and assessed his vessel. âNeither do I.â He admitted. âBut maybe we can learn together.â He stepped towards her and clasped her hand. âI believe this is how the humans do it.â He said lowly, placing a hand on her waist.
Y/N could feel her hand tremble in his hold, and tried to steady herself. âYeah Cas,â she stammered. âJust like that.â
The angelâs mouth twitched upward in a half smile. He could read the excitement in Y/Nâs mind, and felt the tension of her frame. With a new rush of confidence, he coughed politely. âShall we?â He asked.
She could only manage a nod, not trusting herself to speak.
And the simple secret of the plot
Is just to tell them that I love you a lot...
Castiel took the lead, guiding Y/N across the library floor. He moved with grace, his cobalt gaze never leaving her face.
She laughed weakly in his arms. âYou know, for someone who hasnât danced in millennia, youâre pretty good at it.â
âYes,â he answered dryly. âIt seems I am.â As they moved in tandem, Y/N gripped the starchy fabric of Castielâs trench coat, her knuckles whitening from the force.
He looked to where she was gripping his shoulder, and moved to place his hand over hers. âThereâs no need to be nervous.â He said softly. âItâs only me.â
Her tension eased. âI know. Thatâs the problem,â she whispered. Y/N gave a short laugh at the wrinkled patch that remained on his coat. âSorry about that...â
Castiel hardly stirred. âY/N,â he began. âI have stood by the sidelines of humanity for eons. I have seen great terror and great goodness in all those years, but went about existence as a warrior. An observer.â
âWhat are you saying?â
Castiel stopped dancing and studied Y/N for a moment. He smiled kindly and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear.
âIt wasnât until I met the Winchesters that I began to appreciate the intricacies of humanity, and what they entail.â
He cupped her face in his hand, and swiped his thumb softly against her cheek.
âBut it wasnât until I met you that I began to feel those complex sentiments for myself.â
âCastiel?â
The angel moved a finger under her chin and lifted her gaze to meet his.
âY/N,â he whispered. âI think I love you.â
He dipped his face downwards and kissed her. In that moment, all was fire and ice. Y/N felt a warmth surge through her as the angelâs cool lips met her own. She clutched at his lapels and melted into his touch. Castiel smiled against her lips and revelled in the goodness and hope that lingered within their kiss.
When they parted, both angel and hunter were left breathless from the intensity of their sentiment.
Castiel grinned sheepishly, his hair left ruffled by the kiss. âIf youâd like, we could dance to one more song.â
Y/N smiled and placed his hand on her waist. âIâd love to.â

Y/Nâs brown hair danged slightly around her face, the stray hairs that curled away from her messy bun. She gripped her coffee mug close to her chest and breathed deeply, the scent of it. She smiled contently with her eyes closed and took her first sip.
âMorninââ Deanâs groggy voice came around the corner.
âGood morning.â Y/N replied back peeking her eyes open and tucking her feet up on the chair where she was perched.
Deanâs perfect green eyes hung on her body, âI will never understand how you are able to do thatâŚâ
Y/N tipped her head to the side, âDo what?â
Dean poured his coffee and walked over to the table where Y/N was; his finger pointing at her, âThatâŚget all tucked into a ball like that.â He sat down, âWhere is Sam? Why isnât there food?â
Y/N chuckled, âIâm a dancer, Dean. I have to be limberâŚâ she said getting up from her position, her eyes warned Dean silently.
âIâm been dying to find outâŚâ he said under his breath.
She bent over and pulled out a pan from the cabinet, âI still heard that!â She said with laughter in her voice.
Dean smiled, âHey, you have that thing today right?â He furrowed his eyebrows inquisitively.
âYeah,â Y/Nâs voice was laced with a hint of nervousness.
âYou are going to do great, Y/N.â Castielâs voice suddenly
Dean closed his eyes and pressed his lips together tightly and held up a finger to the angel, âYou have got to stop doing that so early in the morning, Cas!â
âIâI am sorry to startle you, Dean. I just wanted to make sure I was here before, Y/N left.â Cas responded and then turned his attention to her as she began to cook for herself and the Winchesters.
âAw, thatâs really sweet of you Cas, thanks!â Y/Nâs lips curled up into a bright smile, she turned around gracefully and she hugged him tightly.
Castiel stiffened up slightly with uncertainty, âShould I reciprocate the embrace or would that be inappropriate?â
Y/N released her arms from around the trench coat wearing angel, âOne of these days you are going to be the first to hug me; Iâm telling youâŚone of these days, Cas.â She laughed.
âPerhaps.â Cas said.
Samâs sloppy footsteps slid around the corner as he entered the kitchen. âSam! Nice to see you up so early on this fine morningâŚâ
Deanâs head tilted to the side and he looked at his younger brother, âYou had sex.â He paused, âdidnât you?â Y/N looked at Dean over her shoulder from the stovetop. Deanâs smile erupted onto his face, âSammy you dirty son-of-a-bitch!â
âCome on, not so loud okay, Dean. PleaseâŚâ the younger Winchester winced at his brotherâs brash voice.
Y/Nâs arm came across Samâs body where he sat down at the table with his coffee, âMorning, Sammy.â
âThanks, Y/N. Looks great.â He responded to the plate of hot food that now lay in front of him.
âThanks, Y/N.â Dean hungrily stared down at the heaping plate of food and picked up his fork.
âAnytime guys!â She smiled.
âArenât you going to have any?â Sam asked her.
She shook her head, âNo, Iâve got to head out for my solo practice this morning.â She attempted to hide her smile but was unsuccessful, âThis is like huge, guysâŚthis could be the one that launches my careerâŚIâm really excited but nervous.â She fussed with the hem of her shirt.
âNo, thatâs amazing, Y/N and you are going to do amazing today. I know it!â Sam encouraged.
âYeah, Y/N. Youâre pretty fucking good, I donât know how you do it. Shitâs painful but you make it look so, so, good.â He wiggled his eyebrows and smiled.
Y/N laughed and tossed a rag at Dean, âThanks, guys.â She smiled, âmeans a lotâŚâ
âI will go with you, Y/N.â Cas interjected in the moment. Y/N was about to speak but Castiel continued, âI will go.â He paused, his eyes firm, âI have never seen you dance, Y/N. I wish to see it.â
âOâokay. I meanâI guess thereâs no stopping an angel of the Lord.â She nodded, âIâll be ready to go in 20.â
___
âReady to go, Cas?â Y/N asked, twirling her hair into a fine bun that sat on top of her head and the small piece of fabric flowed around her slender waist.
âYou look very nice, Y/N.â Castielâs eyes slowly traveled down Y/Nâs body. His hand lifted the edge of the fabric draped around her waist, âI can see through this.â
Y/N laughed and brushed his hand away, âYeah, Cas. Itâs what ballet dancers wearâŚitâs supposed to be like that.â She smiled sweetly at his childlike curiosity. âBut itâs nice to know you would look out for me like that, Cas.â She giggled and jokingly punched his shoulder. âCome on, Cas.â She said and grabbed his hand, âLetâs go.â
The two of them ascended the metal, spill staircase and closed the door behind them.
Sam and Dean sat there in the kitchen of the bunker for a few minutes in silence before Sam began to speak, âAre they together?â
Dean took a bit of his toast, âI donât knowâŚand donât think we arenât going to not talk about what you did last night.â Sam smirked and rolled his eyes.
___
âY/N, solo practice. 8 am.â She spoke clearly into the speaker as she held the button in.
âOkay, I will buzz you in. Third floor, talk to Adrian.â The buzzer rang and the door unlocked.
Y/N turned to Castiel with a vivid expression of excitement, âCome on!â She smiled.
âI could have unlocked the door for you, Y/N. I do not understand why you are excited forââ he paused mid sentence when his crystal blue eyes locked with Y/Nâs; her eyes glared at back at him and she crossed her arms, âOh, I understand.â
___
âJust right through here, Y/N.â Adrian pointed down the hallway, âYou give the cue for your music then it will start.â She paused, âYour solo practice will be monitored and you should know by the end of the week if you have been chosen. Any questions?â
âNo, maâam.â Y/N shook her head slightly. Adrian motioned with her hand to the man that stood behind her. âOh, um. This is my friend, came along to help me stretch beforeâŚcan he stay in the room then?â
Her face tightened with a grin, âOh, of course, dear.â She smiled, âGood luck!â
___
âHow do I help you, Y/N?â Cas asked with a lowered jaw.
She smiled up to him and placed her hands on his chest and replied, âYou donât have to help me with anything. Youâre here, thatâs what matters.â She leaned up and pecked a sweet kiss onto his cheek and then retreated to her bag.
She finished tying them tightly to her ankles and stood in the center of the room, she raised her hand to signal that she was ready for her music. She took a deep breath in and started with the music.
Castielâs icy blue eyes eagerly watched as Y/Nâs slender body moved graciously across the floor, her hands delicately engaging in dance. The thing fabric bounce as she came up onto her toes and leaped with agility.
Y/N spun angelically to the soft tones of the music, her body an instrument to invoke feeling and emotion; those Castiel was able to receive.
His heart picked up in pace and his lips parted slightly in amazement of how Y/N was able to move her body so elegantly. The music came to a soft end and she finished with a slight bow.
Y/N smiled and waved upward to signify the end of her routine. âHowâd I do?â Y/N skipped over to Castiel who was holding her bag.
âY/N, that was the most beautiful thing that I have ever set eyes on. I have seen all of Godâs creation and itâs beauty but it does not compare to you.â Castiel admitted, his engaging eyes remained fixed on Y/Nâs.
Y/N smiled widely at his words and she soon embraced his vessel within her arms, squeezing him tightly. âThat means so much to me Castiel. Thank you.â
Summary: When Gabriel flirts with Castiel's girl, it's time for payback.Â
A/N: Day 3 of HDE. Stranger Things costumes involved. *Fluff*Â
Pairing: Castiel x reader (feat. Gabriel, Jack)
Word Count: 309
"Are you sailing off to sea?" Gabriel forgoes any greeting, getting down to the punchline as he wraps his arms around the younger angel. "Because this is... not working for you, Bucko." The party, filled with hunters, monsters, and everything in between, took over the common areas of the bunker. And while being one of the most powerful creatures, Gabriel felt to wreak havoc on with non-angelic abilities.Â
"Gabriel," Castiel grunts, tilting his head.Â
The archangel glances above his brother's head, where a crisp white sailor's hat resides. "Oh shit, it says ahoy!" He can barely form the syllables as cackling erupts. Castiel glowers, but it goes unnoticed. "See, this is why I'm wearing a costume. What did you do to deserve this?"
"Well, he's doing me," you interrupt, slithering between the two to straighten Castiel's cap. "And I think he looks adorable."Â
"Yeah, but you look hot," Gabriel says, bobbing his head. There's a growl in Castiel's chest only audible to angels, and Gabriel refocuses. "What the hell are you two?â
"Robin and Steve from Stranger Things. You haven't seen it?"
"Are you kidding, I haven't even watched Downton Abbey yet." Gabriel ogles at your costume. "But, I may start now."
Castiel studies his brother's vessel. The angle of his cheekbones, his tanned skin, and the mischief in his eyes... Castiel reveals a crooked grin.Â
"Well, I think you would make an excellent Dustin."
Gabriel squints in confusion, looking to you for an answer while Castiel beckons Jack over from across the party. Whispering in the Nephilim's ear, Jack's simper resembles his father's. That's when Jack snaps his fingers.
Gabriel's non-existent costume transforms into a mesh trucker's hat, shorts, and high knee socks, resembling that of the character.
"What the hell..."
The entire room observes, and there's warm laughter throughout.Â
Summary: On her first day back at work, she thinks something is off about the new employee, Steve. He doesnât ever seem to know what heâs doing and seems lost, hurt, and confused- thatâs what drew her to him. A magnetic pull that, despite y/nâs efforts, she couldnât seem to shake. She felt something deep within her soul that she couldnât ignore- even when he wasnât around she was thinking about him. So, what is it? And whatâs that faint, faint blue light that seems to encircle him wherever he goes?

Title: The Truth About Steve | Part One (of 3)
Castiel's eyes begin to flutter shut as he leans against the checkout counter, his heart beating slowly and his head bobbing as he slowly drifts off. A weak voice in the back of his head fights with him to stay awake as he hears footsteps nearing him, but he simply rests his chin in his hand. "Hello," he murmurs. "What can I do for you today? Checking out? Cash or..." He shakes his head, his eyes briefly fluttering open at the sound of quiet laughter.Â
"You're the new guy, huh?" Castiel blinks a few times, standing up a little straighter. "Oh. Hello," he extends his hand in greeting. "I'm-"
"Steve. I can see your name tag," she laughs slightly, reaching out and shaking his hand before giving him another smile. "You looked beat- what happened? Did you stay up too late?" Castiel pauses, unsure what the correct response would be. Does he tell her he doesnât have a place to stay, let alone enough money for the essentials of human living, or does he lie? He pauses as he slowly realizes he doesn't even know what humans would do late at night, and instead shrugs, faltering slightly.Â
"I didn't sleep well. I'm...in between homes right now." He casts his gaze away, and y/n frowns, tilting her head at him. Her heart swells slightly as she takes in his helpless, broken demeanor and she puts her hand on his shoulder sympathetically.Â
"We've all been there," she whispers, unable to ignore the tug at her heartstrings when he meets her gaze. "If you need help, let me know." Castiel tilts his head.
"You don't know me," his gaze flickers to her nametag. "Y/n, you do not know me." His gaze slides back to her, his eyes darkening slightly. "I could be dangerous," chills run up her spine at the way his voice drops an octave, yet his lips turn up in a quirky, lopsided half-grin, and he turns his gaze to the ground again. "Not that I am," he says quickly. "But I could be." Y/n laughs and shakes her head.
"For some reason I highly doubt that," she regards the faint glow around him, her eyes shining. "Thereâs something about you...I can't quite place it, but you seem good." Castielâs eyes light up at this, and he smiles softly again.Â
"I'm glad you're not frightened of me." His eyes close again, and he sways slightly, gripping the counter for support. "Sorry- don't worry about me, I'm fine." He waves his hand as she approaches behind the counter, reaching out and grabbing hold of him to try and steady him.
"You don't look too good, Steve." She tightens her grip on his arm when he lurches forward, and she shakes her head. "Okay, that's it. We're closing early- come on, I'm gonna get you back to where youâre staying so I know you didn't die on the way." Castiel shakes his head slightly
"You can't do that," his breath comes out raspy, and y/n nods.
"Yes, I can- and I will."
"No, you..." He looks down at her. "When I said I'm in between homes- I don't have one y/n, as in- no friends, no familyâŚI donât have anywhere," she blinks a few times, her gaze falling on the dimming light around him, a small, low static him filling her ears.
"Well...then...you're coming home with me," she tugs his arm lightly. "Come on, I want to make sure you're okay. I can...I can make you some soup? You can camp out on my couch or something until you find a place." Castiel turns his gaze to her once more. Her heart beats quickly at the desperate look in his eyes, his obvious want for food and a warm place to stay battling with the doubts swirling around in his head.Â
"Steve, please." He blinks a few times, casting his gaze away and sighing.
"That's very kind of you," he replies. "I am forever grateful." She smiles and helps guide him out to her car, making sure there are no customers on her way, and locking up once they are outside. He practically falls into the passenger seat, his head falling back and eyes closing instantly, a small grunt falling past his lips. She smiles to herself, shutting the door after him and moving quickly over to her door, climbing in.Â
"If you end up being a murderer I'm going to be so angry," she mutters, eliciting a laugh from his direction, followed by a deep sigh. She glances over at him once more before starting the car and pulling out of the parking lot. Castiel grins again, his eyes involuntarily closing as the radio quietly hums to life.
âMmm. Itâs a good thing Iâm not,â he replies softly, pausing before turning his gaze to her. âIâm veryâŚpleasantly surprised by your kindness, y/n. In only a few weeks Iâve been shown kindness that revives my faith in this world.â Y/n blushes slightly and turns on her right turn single.
âWellâŚthank you. Iâm just doing the right thing,â
âWhat if itâs not safe?â
âWellâŚI donât know. Iâm giving you the benefit of the doubt- you donât seem bad.â Y/n looks away from the road to meet his gaze and smiles. âI guess I trust you? Itâs not like weâre total strangers- weâve been around each other a bit.â Castiel smiles softly and lets âs his eyes close again. He hums contently, the cool air blowing some of his hair around a bit.
âThatâs true,â he replies softly. âWe havenât talked much, but weâve worked with each other for a while.â
âWe havenât talked because youâve never answered me. Itâs like you donât know how to talk to girls or something.â Castielâs cheeks heat up and he hangs his head in shame, his demeanor once again resembling a kicked-puppy.
âMyâŚsocial skills are rusty,â he mumbles softly, his hand twitching slightly as a sad look crosses his face. He lifts his head up, eyes shiny, and turns his gaze to the carâs sunroof, staring at the sky as stars and street lamps fly past them. âIâm not too good with people,â he clarifies. âIâve had a sort ofâŚcrutch ever since Iâve been here, andâŚâ his voice trails off. âAnd now I donât.â Y/n nods, but stays silently, keeping her gaze on the road. âItâs overwhelming,â he continues, âthere are so many things you have to worry about. Food, shelter, clean clothesâŚâ He sighs. âAnd on top of all of that, you have toâŚinteract with others in a way that wonât offend them. Or scare them.â
âSteve?â She asks softly. âIs this the first time youâve been on your own?â Castiel pauses and then nods.
âYes. I hadâŚwell, I used to have a great deal of power, and I gave it up for what I thought was right, and for my friends. And, well, I still had my power but not the same position. Now I donât have power, andâŚnow my friends,â his eyes shine more as he stares at the sky, âthey kicked me out of their place.â Y/n frowns.
âSo, you sacrificed everything for them, and once you lost thisâŚpower, they just dumped you on the side of the road?â Castiel nods.
âBasically, yes.â
âSteveâŚâ she shakes her head. âIâm so sorry- thatâs notâŚthatâs horrible. What kind of friendâŚâ
âIâm sure he had his reasons,â Castiel interjects. âHe wouldnât have done it if there wasnât a reason.â Y/n canât help but notice the hope in his voice and she briefly turns her gaze to him.
âYou donât know though?â
âNo, not really.â
Thereâs a long stretch of comfortable silence, both thinking about the other as y/n drives.
Castiel canât keep his mind off how nervous he seems to be around her- and how genuinely kind she is to take him in like this, let him stay at her place- still with an underlying fear of something bad waiting for him at the house.
Y/n canât wrap her head around why sheâs so drawn to Steve- sure, heâs handsome, but she usually doesnât throw trust at strangers like this. But something about Steve feelsâŚsafe, familiar, even. Yet she canât figure out what, or why. She sighs, her grip tightening around the wheel slightly. She notices Steveâs eyes closing, and his head bobbing slightly as he slowly dozes off. Her eyebrows pull together slightly at the ever-dimming light surrounding him, not thinking as she reaches out to feel it, curiosity getting the best of her.
Her hand hovers just over his shoulder, a light tingle traveling up her arm, causing her to gasp. Steve jerks awake, his eyes widening as he pulls away from her slightly, his hand grabbing her wrist.
âI-Iâm sorry,â she pulls her hand away quickly, her cheeks heating up as she turns her attention to the road. âI didnât mean to wake you up, I justâŚâ Her voice trails off, and Steve shivers slightly.
âItâs fine, y/n. You didnât mean any harmâŚâ He stretches in the limited space he has, a loud sigh escaping his lips. âIâm just very tired.â She glances over at him, frowning.
âYou look kinda pale,â she murmurs.
As she pulls into her apartments parking lot, she glances over at him worriedly. She quickly parks and reaches over, lightly feeling his forehead.
âOh, Steve,â she sighs, pulling her hand away and frowning. âYou have a fever.â Castiel frowns, the same puppy dog expression crossing his face.
âA fever?â
âYeah, youâre sick.â She sighs and opens her door. âCome on, I have some ibuprofen inside- itâll help with the fever.â Castiel sighs, pushing the door open and practically rolling out of the car, barely catching himself on the door.
âIâm never sick,â he mumbles, holding his head slightly. âThis is horrible.â Y/n rushes over to his side and grabs his arm.
âCome on, Steve. Letâs get you up to my room- if you want I could make soup, orâŚâ
âNo, no! Please, youâre already offering me a place to stay- and giving me medicine. You donât need to do anything else for me.â Castiel replies quickly, guilt forming in the pit of his stomach.
âBut, I must have dinner anyways, Steve. I might as wellâŚâ She looks hopefully at him, his quickly dulling blue gaze turning to her.
âIâŚy/n, IâŚâ He sighs, his eyes fluttering shut. âI think I need to sit down,â he reaches out for the car to steady himself, and y/nâs eyes widen as her grip tightens on his arm.
âOkay, okay, come on. Iâm taking you up.â
Castiel practically collapses onto the couch, his chest rising and falling heavily as he squeezes his eyes shut, the sound of y/n shuffling through drawers deafening to his ears. The material of his clothes scratches at his skin, his whole body practically tingling as every slight move sends an odd sensation through his body. He groans in discomfort, tugging the sleeves of his shirt up to try and get relief from the heat, only to breath heavily when it sends a painful, tingling sensation through his whole arm. Y/n rushes over and stares down at him.
âI, uh- I think I have an old boyfriendâs shirt you could wear- an ex, exâŚuh.â She sets something down on the table. âRight. Stay here, Iâll be right back.â
Castielâs eyes flutter open as she walks away.
âWhat do I need a shirt for?â
âSo, you arenât so overheated,â she calls out, quickly rushing back in with a plain grey T. âHere, if you want- uh, if you have boxers on or something, you could take off your pants- if it, uhâŚwould make you more comfortable?â She holds the shirt out to him, and he stares forward at it. He takes the shirt, and shifts, pushing himself to stand up. âWhoa, what are you doing?â
âIâm going toâŚis there a restroom I could change in?â Y/n coughs slightly and nods. âYeah, I, uh, sorry.â She laughs. âYeah, over here.â She takes his elbow and gently leads him over to the small bathroom, only walking away when the door closes.
She rifles through the medicine cabinet, trying to find ibuprofen and aspirin when she hears a loud crash. âOh my god,â she rushes back to the bathroom, throwing the door open without thinking.
Castiel grips the counter to support himself, leaning his forehead on it as well. His bare back is turned to her, the only clothing actually on him being plain, white boxers. Y/n chokes slightly, and whirls around. âOh- oh Iâm so, uh, oh godâŚIâm so sorry- I didnât mean to- I hear a loud- I thoughtâŚI thought maybe youâd fallen, I didnâtâŚâ Another low, almost pained groan falls past Castielâs lips, and he shakes his head, attempting to stand up.
âItâs fine, y/n, I-â He lurches forward, catching himself on the doorframe, still gripping the shirt. She turns slowly.
âIâŚhow did you even get this sick? What happened.â For the first time, y/n notices the dark circles under his sunken, tired eyes and how a light layer of sweat covers his torso, his skin almost looking sunburnt from the heat. Her jaw drops open. âSteveâŚwhat- why are youâŚhow long have you not had a place to stay?â He turns his gaze to the ground, wobbling slightly despite his efforts to keep steady.
âA few months maybe.â
âHave you been eating?â
âNot consistently.â
âAre those the only clothes you have?â He pauses before slowly nodding. âSteveâŚâ She frowns, and reaches out, grabbing his arm. âCome on, letâs get you to the couch.â
âWhat about the shirt?â Y/n pauses.
âIf youâre comfortable you can leave it off, or you can put it on. I just thought youâd be more comfortable like this.â Castiel nods slowly and puts the shirt aside. âI could get you a blanket to cover up though- if youâd like.â He nods slowly.
âThat would be nice,â he replies, watching her walk away only to reappear a few moments later with a thin, grey blanket. She drapes it across his lap, and opens a pill bottle, shaking out two small, round, red pills into his hand. âTake this,â she hands him a glass of water. âIt should help your fever.â She stands up. âIâm going to change out of my work clothes, and then make some dinner. Iâm probably going to make soupâŚwould you like some?â Castielâs eyebrows pull together and he nods slowly.
âYes, I wouldâŚI would love some food, but please donât go out of your wayâŚâ
âSteve, I have to eat. I might as well make you some food while Iâm at it.â She smiles softly and then turns. âIâll be right back- stay there, okay?â Castiel nods and his eyes flutter shut. He pulls the blanket up closer to his chest, allowing himself to relax on the couch more, his hot, flushed skin sensitive to the couchâs coolness. He hums softly, unable to open his eyes as he hears shuffling in the kitchen.
âY/n?â He mumbles.
âYeah, Itâs me.â Castiel sighs at her voice, slumping on the couch more, now completely laying on the couch.
âIâm glad it wasnât a robber- or a murderer,â he mumbles, swallowing thickly and trying to sit up. âI wouldnât be much help,â y/n laughs at this, and he hears her soft footsteps grow nearer as she shuffles over to him, placing a cool cloth over his forehead.
âIâm just heating up some soup, it shouldnât take too long.â She brushes strands of his slightly damp hair out of his face, practically combing through his hair with her hand as she stares down at him. Castiel mumbles incoherently, a small smile sliding across his face. Although y/n canât hear what he says, she laughs softly, and her hand rests on the side of his face. âItâs like youâve never had the flu before,â she mumbles softly, her head tilting as her lips curl into a small smile. His eyes flutter open and his lips briefly part.
âI donât get sick very much,â he replies sheepishly.
âIt must be because of you not taking care of yourself, recently.â She lightly taps his nose and stands up. âIâm gonna make you a bowl, and Iâll be right back over.â Castiel nods and forces himself into a sitting position, the blanket falling from around his shoulders and covering his lap. Y/n sits down next to him, holding the bowl carefully. She takes a small sip of the soup, and then nods, turning to Castiel. âHere, Steve.â She lifts a spoonful to his mouth and he glances at her briefly before his lips part and he takes the bite, quickly chewing the small chunks of vegetable and what appears to be chicken before swallowing. She smiles and reaches to get another spoonful.
âY/n I can feed myself- you still need to eat.â She smiles slightly as she lifts the spoon up to him again, and he pauses, glancing over at her.
âI already ate, okay? I knew you wouldnât let me cook food for you otherwise. So justâŚeat.â His cheeks turn red- whether from the fever, or embarrassment y/n wasnât sure, but he complies, swallowing the soup and following her movements as she brings the spoon back to the bowl.
They continue this until the bowl is close to empty and Castiel refuses the last bites, claiming to be full. Y/n eyes him, squinting slightly.
âAre you saying that because youâre actually full or because you feel bad? Because we are literally like three bites away from finishing this.â
âWe?â Castiel echoes.
âYou, I meant you.â She clears her throat. âSo, uh, are you sure? You really donât want the restâŚâ Castielâs gaze stays on the bowl.
âWellâŚâ
âSteve, just take the last of it. You havenât been eating properly- as you said, you havenât had a home. You might as well?â Castiel swallows roughly, slowly nodding.
âYes, please.â Y/n smiles and quickly feeds him the last of the soup. Castiel stares down at his lap, smoothing his hands over the light blanket. âWellâŚthank you, y/n- again. Youâve been so kind to me these past few hours.â She smiles, and pushes his hair back again, picking up the long-discarded (and no longer cool) washcloth. She sits up, and takes the bowl over to the sink, cautiously returning to the couch.
âSoâŚâ She sits down next to him, and he smiles over at her tiredly. âI can go grab you a pillow and an extra comforter- are you cold? Do you need more blankets? I do have the extra comforter if you need it- and some other heavier blankets. Would you like some?â He smiles.
âIf it wouldnât be much trouble- I could help, if you want.â
âNo, no. You rest here. Luckily for you, itâs Friday. If I remember right neither of us have work tomorrowâŚright?â Castiel frowns and nods slowly.
âI work weekdays,â he replies.
âYeah! Me too.â They pause for a long time, and then she nods, standing up. âOkay. Iâll go get your blankets then.â She smiles again and heads for the closet.
It only takes a few minutes to gather all the items, but by the time sheâs back, Castiel is already lying down, his head resting on the couchâs armrest, his bare chest rising and falling rhythmically. She lifts his head carefully to stuff the pillow underneath, and lays the blankets over him, walking over to the hallway and flicking the lights off. âGoodnight, Steve.â She mutters, turning away from him and sighing. âI really, really hope youâre as good as I think you are.â

Italics is your dream
You slowly opened your eyes, but werenât sure if you really did at first because of how pitch black it was in the place you were in. All you could remember was that you were hunting a pretty nasty demon with Sam and Dean, and the next thing you knew, you felt like a boulder hit you in the back of the head.
There was a slight pressure on both your wrists and ankles; you tried to wriggle your arms and legs but the restraints that were holding you holding you in place werenât budging in the slightest, they actually felt like they were getting tighter. âGreat.â You mumbled to yourself, sighing as you looked up at what you assumed was a ceiling above you.
What felt like years, stadium type bright lights came on from the ceiling that slightly blinded you because of how bright they were. As quick as you could, you shut your eyes and turned your head. âSon of a bitch.â You said, louder than you wanted.
You heard some laughter that seemed to be coming from right in front of you. In that moment, you heard foot steps, and the sound of latex gloves snapping on someoneâs hand. In a matter of seconds, you felt someone move your chin up. âOpen your eyes,â said a very low and deep manly voice. You didnât open your eyes like the man said, and you could hear him sigh. âOpen your eyes now, or Iâll open them myself.â He said, more demanding and less patient this time. You did as the man said this time, and slowly opened them.
The man that was standing in front of you with his hand under your chin looked at you with a smirk; the kind that serial killers would wear to draw in their victims. âSee? That wasnât so hard was it dear?â He chuckled and you snapped your face away from his hand, which only made him chuckle more. The tall man, who was possibly the same height as Sam or possible taller, walked over to the metal table that was next to you that was covered with a white cotton sheet. Without either of you breaking eye contact from the other, he removed the sheet and revealed some of the items. On the metal desk were several different medical tools and non-medical tools that were in pristine condition. Either he has never used them before or he has a very religious cleaning ritual.
âYou know,â The man started to speak, picking up a scalpel and examining it. He flicked the blade with his fingers, testing the sharpness of the object. âI didnât like what you and your friends did to my experiments.â The man was very calm when he spoke. Speaking in a way a parent speaks to their child when they have caught their child doing something wrong and they are insanely disappointed.
âYou were turning people into demons!â You shouted. In a split second, the scalpel was on your throat. You could feel the sharpness of the blade against your skin, but you didnât flitch. The mans eyes turned pure black, his icy stare piercing into your skin like daggers.
âI WAS TRYING TO HELP THEM!â He yelled, no longer the calm and disappointed voice he previously had. He removed the scalpel from your neck and stepped back away from you. He placed the scalpel back on the metal table and straightened out his white lab coat. The tall man took a deep breath, his eyes flashing back to his vesselâs ocean blue ones.
âHow is turning people into demons saving them?â You asked.
âYou see, the people I was turning into demons were dying. A few of them had Cancer, and another few were dying from unknown causes. In my research I found that if you turn a person into a demon, they can no longer die from that disease.â He was calm again, and while he was explaining to you what he was doing, a part of you actually felt bad.
âButâŚâ You wanted to say something, but you couldnât find the words to try and hurt him. A part of you knew that he was trying to do something good, but his actions werenât really working. He tried to turn people into demons, but the way he was going about it was just killing people faster than their disease could.
He walked over to you with the scalpel again, and placed the scalpel close to your neck, like the way he did before when you angered him. âYour friends will never find you, you know.â He said, smirking ever so calmly. He nicked your neck with the blade and drew a little bit of blood.
âOuch.â You said, at the sudden pain that he just caused you. But in a split second, that pain was gone.
âDonât worry, this isnât going to be the end of our fun. We have all the time in the world.â He said, walking back to the metal table, grabbing another medical instrument.
Your vision started to go blurry, and all you could see was just random patches of your blood. The man didnât cut you deep, but he cut you in a bunch of random little places that made you want to throw up. There were cuts on your feet and hands, your stomach and chest, and even on your face. There was dried blood above and below your eyes and thankfully none got into them. âPâŚPlease.â You said, barely audible.
âYou canât handle this? Really? Y/N the badass hunter canât handle this kind of pain? Iâve barely done anything.â He whispered in your ear and started to play with the top of your hair, the same way Sam or Dean would play with it if they were messing around with you. You felt a small tear roll down your cheek.
âTheyâre not coming.â You mumbled again, more tears started to stream down your face.
Your eyes shot open and you could feel wetness on your cheeks. You rubbed the tears from your eyes and looked at your doorway, noticing a figure standing there. âCas?â You questioned, your voice sounding like a mixture between sleepy and like you just got done crying.
Cas walked towards you and sat down at the end of your bed. âI couldâŚHear you crying from the other room.â The angel looked at you with genuine concern on his face. âI wanted to make sure you were okay.â
âIâmâŚIâm fine. I justâŚI had a nightmare.â You tucked your knees against your chest, looking at him, trying your best to force a smile on your face but it wasnât working.
âAre you sure youâre okay?â He asked, placing his hand on the top of your knee. This caused you to have a genuine soft smile on your face.
âCan youâŚCan you stay with me?â You asked, placing your hand on top of his. âIt wasnât a horrible nightmare butâŚIt kind of freaked me out.â Cas nodded, and you got back unto the covers. You moved over to the left side of the bed so that there was enough room for Cas to lay down next to you. Once he did so, he wrapped his arms around you, and pulled you in close so your face was buried in his chest. You shut your eyes for a moment, feeling at peace.
âDo you want to talk about it?â Cas said, looking down at you. You looked up at him slightly, ready to speak. âYour nightmare that is?â He asked, as if to clarify.
âIâŚI got tortured by a demon and no one came to rescue me.â You looked away from him, kind of feeling slightly embarrassed in that moment for some reason. âItâs kind of stupid I know.â You decided to add, but quickly regretted saying that part.
âItâs not stupid Y/N.â He calmly said, pulling your chin up so you could look at him. âWeâll always come and rescue you, no matter what.â He kissed your forehead, making you feel more at peace. Cas was really good at that; he always managed to make you feel calm about a lot of things.
âThank you.â Was all you said, before you shut your eyes again.
âIâll be here when you wake up.â He whispered. When he said that, you felt your heart race a little bit, and felt a smile form on your lips. It was nice to know that you had an angel watching over you.

A/N: A first kiss. Pure fluff drabble inspired by Tyler Kent Whiteâs beautiful prose.
Castiel did not expect your kiss. There was no hesitation or warning preceding the act. No time for the angel to mount a proper defense. No chance to list all the reasons why you could not possibly love him. Nor any opportunity to reflect upon why he must not permit himself to love you. You simply grabbed the lapels of his trench coat, using them for balance as you rolled up to your tip-toes.
He felt the heat of your breath caress his face, sweetly scented like the summer breeze. Your honeyed lips trembled when they collided with his motionless mouth. Transfixed, he focused on your tightly squeezed lids â puffy, red, brimming over with tears, and closer than ever before to his astonished blues. He counted the freckles on your nose, surprised to find a barely perceptible fleck he never before noticed. He contemplated with a twinge of regret the tiny visible line of the scar marking the apple of your cheek that you acquired when his grace had been stolen and he was unable to heal you. It did nothing at all, he thought, to dim your beauty.
When your lashes fluttered open, the nearness of the multi-faceted hues of your wetly glinting irises gave him the distinct impression of being swathed in the glow of a glorious late summer sunset. Gazing into your eyes, a hint of apprehension beginning to cloud their vividness in response to his total lack of one, he remembered all at once everything he had ever wanted to say to you but could not find the words or the will to properly express.
Fingers gliding to your waist, a hand snaking to nudge the small of your back, he drew you to his chest to banish the gap between your bodies. Molding his mouth to fit yours, he recognized the unnamable long-denied feeling that made his vesselâs heart beat faster in your presence â that elating sentiment which brought a fond smile to his face any time he thought of you.
He returned your kiss with unrestrained passion and hoped you would understand why it had taken him so long. He prayed to his father that all the explanation you needed perched unspoken upon his tongue as it slid into your intoxicatingly parted mouth. No language he knew in creation summed up the unfathomable depth of his reverence for you. As you tangled your fingers into his hair, he bared the ecstasy of emotion contained in his angelic heart for your soul to hear â his profound adoration encompassed in the tenderness of a single breathless kiss.
You echoed his love in the melt of your lips and the delicate dance of your tongue waltzing with his own. The contented moan rising in your throat, acceptance of his wordless declaration, reverberated through his vessel. His divine grace rang out in blissful harmony as tingling wisps of electric song raced across your flesh, unseen wings unfurling to enclose you in their embrace.
Your kiss penetrated deeper still, dismantling his self-erected walls to shine as a brilliant light in the darkest corners of his celestial being to soothe the pestilence of regret, unworthiness, and self-doubt that rooted there â an infinite luster illuminating for him the understanding that he is enough, and the revelation that in all of creation, in the entire sum of his existence, to him you have always been the one.

âWhy is the kitchen full of squash fruits?â Castiel had a habit of forgoing greetings completely when he turned up near you. Not that you minded. Though the sudden appearances couldnât be good for your heart, it was almost always beating at a much higher speed whenever the angel was near anyway. Honestly, it was kind of a miracle the angel hadnât caught onto your not so hidden crush yet.
âPumpkins, Cas⌠Itâs almost Halloween and though the boys wouldnât let me fully decorate, I talked them into letting me carve some pumpkins,â You said, smiling at the angel in his usual trenchcoat as you turned, still holding one of the four pumpkins in your arms. These babies were some heavy motherfuckers. Youâd done good at the local farmers market. Especially considering how close it was to Halloween.
âCarving? Is that some sort of cooking method?â Castiel asked as he walked over and looked closer at your tools and the four pumpkins on the table before looking back up at you with curious eyes.Â
That pure, almost childlike way heâd look at you when learning about something new Earth had to offer made it hard to connect your Cas with âCastiel, angel of the lord and soldier of heavenâ. Yet, those many contrasts that made up the man in front of you was part of why you loved him. Though he was an angel, that part of him seemed more human than most of humanity, or at least the people youâd had the displeasure of bumping into through your hard life as a hunter.
âNo, itâs⌠Iâm going to empty out the insides, the flesh and guts, and then carve the pumpkins into lanterns,â You said, quickly flipping through the many stencils youâd already printed to find the image of a ready made carved pumpkin that had come with your tools. âItâs decoration⌠For Halloween,â You said, holding out picture as a small light of recognition lit up in Castielâs eyes.
Last Halloween youâd all been on a hunt together, but after an evening of questions, Cas had gotten a pretty good hang of what Halloween was⌠At least on paper. And if your memory wasnât completely failing you, you seemed to remember that Dean had thrown a carved pumpkin at a ghoul to distract it before Sam went for the killing blow. Though of course pumpkins didnât normally get used as monster hunter weapons.
âCould I⌠Would you mind if I joined you? I want to learn more about Halloween,â Castiel said, looking eagerly from the tools and over to you with those big, soft puppy dog eyes that you could just never say no to anyway. Plus, hell, youâd be mad if you gave up on the chance to spend a little alone time with your crush.
âOf course you can! But⌠You might wanna drop the jacket and at least roll up the sleeves of your shirtâŚâ You said, eyeing his outfit next to your own tank top and shorts combo and you grinned up at the angel. âPumpkin carving is dirty business,â
 ---
âAre you going to throw out all of that?â Cas said after a while of the two of you working silently side by side to clean out the pumpkins. His eyes resting on the big bowl of pumpkin flesh, guts and seeds in front of you.
âNo way⌠Every part of these babies will go to good use. Thatâs why I asked you to take out as much of the flesh as you could without damaging the pumpkin itself,â You said as you pushed another readied pumpkin shell away with a groan and a stretch.
âHow do you use that?â Castiel seemed unconvinced, and honestly, you didnât blame him. The mix of seeds, flesh and strings didnât seem very appetizing. But hell, you didnât have enough bowls to do the separation straight away, plus, it was kinda a finicky job.
âWell.. Iâm gonna roast the pumpkin seeds. âCause Sammy likes âem. And the flesh Iâll use to make pumpkin pie, for Dean,â You said with a small smile, counting yourself lucky that both the big guys liked to eat, âcause the bowl was pretty much overfilled, which meant enough seeds to last Sam and enough pies for Dean not to get pouty if you stole a slice.
As your eyes focused on the bowl with a soft smile, you missed the slight frown on the angelâs features as Castiel fought with unknown feelings. Feelings he had no words for, yet that he knew were too dark and strange for him to ask you about. Later thought, the angel would come to learn of the feeling burning in his stomach as he watched you talk softly about the Winchester brothers as jealousy.
âBut first you will carve pumpkins with me right?â Castiel couldnât hide the small frown lines on his forehead straight away, nor the slight edge to his voice as he spoke. Yet, before you could turn fully to face him, he somehow managed to remove all signs of that dark feeling, keeping his eyes clear and his question seemingly innocent. Though even he knew the selfish feeling of wanting to keep you to himself for a little while longer.
âOf course!â You grinned, more than happy to comply to any request that let you spend more time alone with the angel. Even if you werenât brave enough to fess up to you own feelings, just spending time with him like that, shoulder to shoulder, was nice. If you had to describe warmth and comfort in one simple way, it would be time spent with Cas. âOk, so letâs get our tools ready and Iâll teach you how to carve the pumpkin and follow the stencils,â
 ---
The room was silent as the first few chaotic moments of the pumpkin carving lesson finally stopped echoing around the industrial sized kitchen. After a few rough starts, and Cas watching slightly confused as you showed him how to apply the stencil and start carving, the angel had almost fully crushed one of your beautiful pumpkins. Though after some gentle urging from you to keep his touch soft, the angel had surprisingly gotten the hang of it quickly.
As he started working on his own pumpkin, the room had drifted into a comfortable silence. Only punctuated by the clatter of tools moving around and some light conversation. And honestly, you loved every second of the light mood. It wasnât often you got the time to just relax in his company, taking the time to blush as his fingers brushed against yours and listen in to his many stories of the world seen to his pure, always positive eyes.
Where your own world view had only gotten bleaker and darker after years of hunting, his seemed to have brighten. The sharp edges of the angel Dean and Sam had at first introduced you to had become rounded and soft as the years went by. And as his deep voice filled the room with murmured conversation between moments of deep concentration you found yourself wishing youâd never finish carving the pumpkin in front of you. Not wanting the moment to end.
From time to time you caught yourself glancing over at Cas between focusing on your own pumpkin. Loving that adorably focused look he sported as he stayed hunched over his own pumpkin, diligently working away. His blue eyes sharp and brow slightly furrowed as he worked on his sketch, that he insisted to do by hand, and carefully carved out the shape using the little tricks youâd taught him.
You tried looking once, to see what he was working on. Only to have your heart squeezed even more as the angel shot you a surprised wide-eyed look before turning his pumpkin away so that you couldnât see it. Even asking him what he was carving only netted you a single word in reply.Â
Home.
 ---
After a little while you sighed and stretched as your own, slightly clumsy, pumpkin carving was done. You thought youâd done a good job. After all, youâd gone straight for the Jack Skellington stencil, which wasnât an easy one to do. Your neck was stiff however as you gently rolled your head from side to side, before turning and smiling at Castiel as he just finished his at the same time as you.
âReady to show me now?â You asked jokingly, as you watched the angel scrutinize his work before meeting your eyes.
âShow me yours first,â Castiel said, sounding slightly worried, as if he worried heâd done something wrong whilst carving so diligently and carefully for the longest time. With nothing more than a smile you turned your pumpkin around so that Jackâs face was facing the angel, knowing full well youâd have to explain either way.
âItâs Jack Skellington, heâs a movie character⌠Look, maybe we can watch the movie together later?â You asked instead of trying to explain the plot of your favourite Tim Burton movie to the angel. Happy for the chance to spend more time alone with him either way.
âYes⌠I would like that,â Castielâs soft response only made your heart thump harder in your chest as you returned his warm smile with one of your own. Secretly celebrating your next time alone with the angel a little early.
âArenât you going to show me yours⌠What did you say it was again?â You said, changing the subject before your happiness started showing on your face as you looked expectantly at the pumpkin, still not seeing the actual carving as Castielâs hands were safely resting on each side of it, hiding the design from you.
âHomeâŚâ That was all Cas said, sounding slightly bashful as he turned the pumpkin around, showing off two beautifully interlinked hearts carved into the orange skin. The angel truly had a talent for it, the wonderful hearts automatically caught your attention with all their intricate details and the soft glow of love that emitted from them warmed your heart and brought another soft smile to your lips as you forced yourself to look away from the detailed carving and up on the artist.
âHome is where the heart is?â You questioned, trying to tie his beautiful carving into his earlier one word answer.
âNo⌠Well, yes. But thatâs not itâŚâ Castiel said, his brow furrowing as he looked down at the pumpkin, following his own carved lines as he looked for the correct words. For a little while all you could hear was the soft hum of the kitchen light and your own heartbeat as you looked at him. Giving the angel the time he needed to find the correct words before he finally spoke again.Â
âWhen Iâm with you like this, I feel warm, and like I am finally home. So you are my home. Which is why there are two hearts⌠Mine and yours,â
You couldnât help the shy smile, nor the unannounced arrival of a million butterflies in your chest that followed his words. Though, you thought as you looked shyly down to hide your reddening cheeks, he meant it in a family way, you couldnât help still loving the tickling feeling his words gave you as you fought the blush and tried to calm your heart.
âThanks Cas, Iâm glad you think of me as family,â You finally said, looking back up after composing yourself and offering him a genuine smile. Though you loved him, if he only wanted you to be a part of his family, they you would be just that. The angel had lost too many people, you didnât want to make him put space between the two of you just because of your own feelings for him. You would be happy, just being close to him.
âNo⌠I think of you as more than family. You are my world (Y/N)... I neverâŚâ Castiel stopped, seeming slightly annoyed at his inability to put it all into words. Though his words were already enough to cause absolute havoc within your own heart and mind.Â
Did he mean..?Â
No, he couldnât mean he loved you. You never even dared dream that he would share your feelings. You fought the urge to ask him, or to pinch yourself, or hell⌠You were a mess of jittery nerves. You didnât even know what damned impulses you were fighting. Did Cas love you to? Was that was he was saying?
âI⌠I have romantic feelings for you (Y/N)... Dean told me to tell you, but I didnât know how. Now seemed like a good time. Is it not a good time?â Castiel looked closely at you, his eyes going to the pumpkin still in his hands that he had pushed more towards you, as if offering it to you in lieu of flowers. Though your silence as the angel rambled on seemed to have been misinterpreted as the furrow in his brow deepened.
âNo, yes! I mean, now is a good time. Iâm⌠Iâm in love with you too Castiel,â You hurried to say the words, not wanting to see those bright blue eyes darken even a little from having to wait for your answer. It still didnât feel real, and you still felt dazed. But as your arms wrapped gently around the pumpkin and hugged it close, you couldnât help believe that this was more than just some amazing dream. This was real, and Cas was yours.
âDoes that mean I can consider this here, this spot next to you⌠Home?â Castiel asked, gently pulling the pumpkin out of your hands and putting it down on the table before his big hands wrapped around your smaller ones. The hopeful look in his eyes warming up your body as you leaned closer until your foreheads were gently touching. The words for you and him only.
 âYeah⌠Wherever weâre together Cas⌠Thatâs home,â

An: this is for you @casownsmyass to satisfy your Cas loving heart <3 hope you like it Chloe!!
You weren't Casâs charge-- it was another Angel who was watching over you and guarding you.Â
But ever since your creation there was something abut you that Cas found. . . intriguing would probably be the word humans would use to describe itÂ
He didnât have strong emotions about you let alone anyone else-- of course not, angels weren't really supposed to feel
however, there was no denying that sometimes when he was supposed to be watching over the Winchesters he found himself watching you instead.
Cas had no idea why, at leas that's what he told himself, tried to convince himself of (it's also what he said to the angels that asked him about it and you)Â
As the Years passed in a blink and he watched you grow up in leaps and bounds Castiel had to admit that he had grown. . . attached to you.
He found himself checking in on you constantly throughout the day.Â
The other Angels noticed this of course and asked him about it, why he would watch one of the mud monkeys especially one who it wasn't his task to watch and of course he found it impossible to describe or explain.
Not that they would understand him even if he could.
The rest of the angelâ s in his garrison slowly got more questioning and suspicious as time went by and he continued to check on you, even doing it more often then before.Â
They had expected his interest to pass and pass quickly but it didnâtÂ
it got to the point that even the higher ups noticed Casâs strange behavior . . and they knew something had to be done about it.Â
Which is when they sent him and his garrison down to hell to get Dean
They thought that doing that would distract him. . . by keeping him on the ground in closer contact with the people he was supposed to guard his  curiosity would be curbed (or at least heâd be kept him busy) and he wouldn't look in on you anymore. Â
They were right to an extentÂ
Cas was reluctant to forget about you completely and he didnât
Between Heaven and the Winchesters cas was kept very busy but he always made time to pop in and see how you were doing (silently and invisibly of course without ever letting you know he was there.)
And every time he saw you he felt a surge of peace. . .and another emotion that he couldn'tâ t name
It wasnât until heâd been around the Winchesters for a year or two that he learned exactly what he was feeling.Â
Love
Heâd come to love and care about you just as much as he did the Winchesters and Cas couldn't stand the thought of anything bad happening to you. . .some monster or creature targeting you or a fellow angel going after you just because of him.
So. . .once he realized that, Cas went back to see you one more time.Â
Even though you couldnât see or hear him, Cas said his good bye then even though it felt like it tore his heart out and shredded his wings. . .Â
