She had never told her child why they could not go up to the surface, having never thought they needed that burden on them at a young age since she was protecting them, but; questions were always asked.
To her, the little face of her baby was the sweetest!
Those three tiny fingers and toes were adorable; their cute snout and the small mahogany shell were utterly beautiful, just like their fathers.
To the woman, she saw them no differently then she did herself.
They had met and fallen in love the night he saved her life quickly became a couple after only a few months.
No, it was never easy; the relationship had ups and downs since their lives were always in danger, but they loved each other, and to them, that was all that mattered. She had to always be prepared for the worst at all times yet stood by his side; he was her reason to keep going on those days she could barely get up.
They had created the perfect life; even for how fast as they started out, there were never any regrets to be found.
How could she regret anything when she saw him so happy the day she showed him that test?
How could she not instantly fall in love when they placed her little one in her arms?
Willing to give up everything just to make sure her little one had the best she could provide as their mom, she never even blink when she left her life on the surface behind.
For her, everything was worth getting to have a family.
Then came the day her baby demanded to know why they looked nothing like her, why they were so different?
Her child had come to her infuriated and clearly upset after hearing their father and uncles talking negitively having never realized the child was right there her baby had heard things they were used to.
She slowly went over, hugging her child close as they sobbed just wanting to know what was wrong with them but, again like always, she told her little one just how perfect she saw them as; soft kisses over the wet cheeks were given with each sweet word already planning to have a talk with her mate about watching what he said in the lair
Although she was trying to calm them, she got shoved with all the strength held in that tiny body of theirs “Would you just look at me, Mommy!”
Their child was much too young to need to know such things; in a few years down the road, maybe it would be appropriate, but for right now, they just needed to be a kid.
“I am looking at you, and all I see is my precious baby who, to mommy is absolutely perfect...”
That seemed to break through the anger; hearing them stifle a soft sob, she hugged them again until her humming filled the room, rocking the tiny form in her arms, swaying back and forth as she rubbed over the small shell, singing a soft lullaby to soothe their troubled mind
After a few minutes, her baby had calmed down just enough; holding her shirt nuzzling into her chest, after a little time had passed, she noticed the little toddler looking at her hands compared to their own seeming so sad, opening her hand a smile lifted the corners of her mouth at how small the little hand was compared to her own
Getting an idea, she slowly shifted her hand so as the four fingers made two matching the child’s own grinning as their eyes went wide upon glancing up at her
"There now, see we're not really all that different–? Mommy is just weird looking”
She had no idea the guys were watching the interaction from behind as she started pointing out the child’s similarities to her, something finally seemed to relax her baby just seeing even if they didn’t look exactly alike; there were the same
She became quiet when they leaned back against her silently listening to her heartbeat, knowing it was lulling them to sleep while keeping her hand the same way until they pulled her fingers apart “You no weird Momma – I like you way you are” she almost wanted to cry as she started humming again noticing a while afterward the tiny turtle child was fast asleep holding tight to one of her fingers before kissing their little head
The couch sinking down made her glance over as her mate settling his heavy body carefully beside her, nuzzling at his woman's cheek "Somebody must have really been tired-" his hand went over hers that rested on the toddlers back, smirking before placing a soft kiss to her head just leaning on her to watch the sleeping form "Way to go momma-"
She said nothing
For now, she just wanted to sit there quietly and watch a bit longer than after her baby woke up, yeah; they were going to have a long talk on being careful about what they said around their child, never wanting to see that self-hatred in their eyes again
More than anything, she was always willing to remind them that no matter what the world ever thought of them, she loved her baby the way she saw them, perfect.
