friendly reminder that even if your yume/selfshipping is a coping mechanism, that is not inherently a bad thing! there is nothing wrong with finding helpful, non-harmful ways to cope.

for example! selfshipping helps me cope with the desire be romantic and affectionate but not wanting one due to factors such as, i don’t want to feel abandoned if they leave, i don’t want to be hurt, i don’t want my boundaries overstepped; this way, i can still feel romantic feelings and be affectionate and loving towards someone (aka my f/os), but i still feel in control; my f/os cannot harm me, they can’t cross my boundaries, they cannot do anything to me that i don’t like. i am also autistic and quite traumatized, so the way i act and the things i like are considered strange, so meeting people and making friends is extremely difficult for me, let alone dating. selfshipping lets me feel accepted by my f/os, i feel wanted and loved by them.

there is no need to be ashamed if you selfship to cope, and there is no need to shame others if they use it to cope. 💞
