Lai Fenghuang, intent on taking over the throne of the Empire, tries and fails to poison Chen Kaiguo, the unlucky Imperial Official. Cue them teaming up, Kaiguo promising to help Fenghuang claim the throne, and her to get him an antidote to the poison creeping to his heart. But what happens when the friend of the wrongly accused lady decides to exact revenge, and what happens when Fenghuang and Kaiguo accidentally fall in love?

After being wronged by the nobles, Fenghuang began her quest for power, to prove that she was better. Now, she has poisoned and schemed her way to one of the most coveted positions in court.

CHEN KAIGUO

OFFICIAL, LUCKY, UNLUCKY

Kaiguo was supposed to be dead. By some fluke ( or magic? ), he is now a shadow of himself, and begs Fenghuang to give him the antidote to reverse the poison. What he doesn't know is that he's getting tangled up in her nefarios schemes.

LIN MEIDAO

WRONGED, ACCUSED, DEAD

Meidao was just another healer. Subjected to the losing end of Fenghuang's plan, she is wrongly accused of poisoning an official and sentenced to death.

CHEN RUIHUA

VENGEFUL, ANGRY, ABOUT TO LOSE HER LIFE

When her best friend, Meidao, is wrongly accused of poisoning the official Kaiguo, she vows revenge on the person that made it happen — Fenghuang. What she didn't plan for was to discover Fenghuang's secrets.

balu is a young presidential democracy, so the citizens vote in their president every five years.  while the president has full authority once in office, they often let the people vote on political decisions; this way they stay favorable with their citizens and maintain power.  the current president of balu is the youngest the country has seen.  he was elected under the pretense of progress for the nation, but his nativity has led to loosened control on the government and corruption among his advisers.
