@rcdpyro:
There was something satisfying about catching the enemy unaware; an affirmation that yes,they were stealthy enough to pull off something expected of the more stealthier classes. They’d been so diligent to carefully make their way into the Sniper’s nest, deftly creeping through the corridors to find the BLU peering down his scope.
For a moment Pyro ponders if this is how it feels to be a Spy. Silently they raise their axe aloft, ready to strike downwards into the enemy’s skull–
CREEEEAK
They freeze on the loose floorboard, panic suddenly flooding them as the sniper whirls around.
* … Hey there…
It only takes a second. Drop rifle-- grab machete-- lunge.
The movement is practiced, an action repeated both under careful rehearsal and the threat of imminent stabbing (bastard Spies). It almost always happens now before there’s time to fully comprehend the would-be attacker, reflex taking over the need to check. He’s killed teammates before they learned not to approach from behind without much remorse. Considering the second warning is often all he has against Spies, the instant reaction feels more than justified.
Non-dominant hand shooting out towards the weapon, his fingers clamp over where gloved hands meet axe handle.
He has a grim moment of recognition as he’s met with blank lenses instead of some snarling Frenchman.
