“I just realized that school has officially started and I’ve been back at UNI for about two weeks. I don’t understand why this took so long to kick in, but it did.” 

Nicholas was taking his daughter out for a walk. The four-year-old was always full of energy, and Nicholas thought taking her for a walk would get her energy out. “Where do you want to go, Allie?” He asked his daughter as he held her hand tightly while walking. 

“Look I know you’re offering your help, but I’m doing okay.” Arista said to Xander. She was a widowed mother of five kids and living on her own in her old childhood home. Her father and step mother lived hours away, her best friend lived just down the road and her siblings were off doing their own thing, she didn’t want to disrupt them. After moving back to town the one person that had entered her life again was her first love and first boyfriend she had in high school, Xander. He always offered her help but she always denied it. “Really I’m fine, I’ll be okay. I know you want to help, but I can’t just rely on you to look after my kids.”

“I don’t understand how you’ve fallen for someone such as me when I’m completely wrong for you.” Carter chuckled as he took a hit from his joint and blew the cloud of smoke out of his mouth. “I’m just going to get you in trouble. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders, don’t throw your future away cause of me.”
