Interior designer Ray Gray borrowed from the glamor of Art Deco, the functionality of the Bauhaus, and ancient classical Greece at his residence in the Outpost Estates area of Los Angeles, as featured in Architectural Digest in 1978. Photo by Sheldon Lettich. * In the living room black and honey-color alpaca-upholstered chairs are grouped around two low slung modernist marble tables displaying clusters of ancient vases and a bronze head by Hungarian sculptor Alexander Kéléty. Gae Aulenti’s modernist lamp contrasts one of a pair of siren statues standing guard, created by Libero Andreotti in 1931 for the ocean liner Victoria.
