a little excerpt from the upcoming chapter... some misplaced affections here i think we can all agree :')
Kaal Kaaz, the Reach, 25th Morning Star "This one's new." Raydrin swept his thumb over the line of raised flesh, marring the otherwise perfect dimple to the left of Aela's spine. The skin around the scar was still mottled and pink— and tender, if her shiver was any indication. Her hips shifted beneath him. She turned her head against the pillow of her forearms to gaze up at him suspiciously from the corner of one eye. "Is that so?" she muttered. "Didn't realise you were keeping count." Heat bloomed in Raydrin's cheeks. Embarrassed, he returned his attention to the knots of her upper back, where an expanse of pale, freckled skin belied the ruined musculature underneath. Years of archery had created a graveyard of nodules, stubborn and firm beneath the pads of his thumbs. "Looks like it went deep," he remarked as he kneaded at her shoulders. Aela groaned, squeezing her scapulae together. "Could have hit a kidney or something." "It was an arrow," she said. Her voice was soft and unresisting. "From a Stormcloak, at Whiterun. While I was— mm." She tensed when Raydrin found a particularly sore spot. "Leorn and I were caught infiltrating the artillery units," she continued, relaxing slowly as he ironed it out. "We had to escape, and while I was running away… I got hit." Raydrin's hands stilled, coming to rest carefully on her shoulder blades. He was in the dark regarding the exact circumstance of Aela's exile; even back in Solitude, when Leorn had shared with him her whereabouts, the Nord did not disclose why she'd been excluded from Vignar's pardon. But Raydrin knew better than to probe. "I'm sorry," he said, for lack of anything else to say. "You will be," said Aela, "if you don't carry on with my back massage this instant." He laughed and bent forward to press a kiss to the nape of her neck. Then one kiss turned into another, and the massage was soon forgotten.
