been trying out RawTherapee, it's nice!
Compared to Darktable, this has more knobs and a better export system (although I haven't tried it with combo JPG+CR2 yet) and while it's more complicated, I've found it's also much faster if you just want to grab One Raw File to edit and export, and in general it seems to be friendlier if you don’t really want or need a professional workflow, where Darktable seems to want you to have a Flow and Technique, you can just flail on the settings, add images to a render queue and not really deal with that problem. The UI is denser and a little weird, but packs away more smoothly and has slightly more sensible defaults.
Darktable is simple to use but tricky to configure, it does some very nice things automatically, and if it clicks for you you’re golden. RawTherapee is polished and very configurable but you’ll probably be unsatisfied with some of the default behaviours.
I may just not have explored DarkTable too deeply but if I had to use an explanation that Linux people will get, Darktable feels like Gnome software and RawTherapee feels like KDE software.
