“The lost art of letter-writing deserves to be revived.”
We have come this far--snail mails are already considered “old school” or vintage. The technology we have created made our lives easier and faster. We developed our mails into electronic mails or “e-mails” and we are now able to send videos from all parts of the world just as long as we have internet connection. But, have we really forgotten to write an actual mail? Have we missed that part of our lives where we plan what we have to say, choose the best paper, and write with our favorite pen?
For my 26th birthday, I asked some of my friends who now live outside the Philippines, to send me a post card with a written greeting at the back. It took months to arrive, but when those arrived, my glee was so genuine and pure. I could not believe I was receiving such precious gifts. It doubles the value because not only did they buy me a postcard, but they had to go to the post office to send it. I still smile when I read the messages.
I think we should all remember and revive the art of letter-writing. Nothing beats the feeling of manually writing down your thoughts and feelings in a paper for that special receiver. I know I will teach my future children what I learned from the 90s, and may it be a practice for my posterity.
