Atiq Rahimiās latest film Our Lady of the Nile, based on the French-language novel by Scholastique Mukasonga, won the Crystal Bear award for best film at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival in Berlin on February 29, 2020.

The film begins in 1973 in Rwanda. The setting is a Belgian-run Catholic boarding school for elite girls who shed their innocence and are used toward a path of hatred. Twenty-one years later, war and ethnic cleansing consume the country.
