I Am Not You, I Am Me. I Am WE.
How come, I look in the mirror and see me, broken, into thousands of peaces, broken into thousands of pieces, broken into thousands of peas-es?
As I walk through the world trying not to look at your lips or your nose, I aim for your eyes and begin to cry...it's like, your holding up a mirror, full length, wanting me to get the picture, but more than anything, wanting me to see the details...H-U-MAN-I-T-Y.Â
The peace of me that resonates and smiles at the little girl picking her nose in her carseat, buckled in tight, in the back of her dad's doo-doo brown, Volkswagen.
The piece of me that identifies with the rage of the person responsible for the Boston Bombings and the loss of the loved ones, "and the death count is...we're still counting".
The peas of me surrounded by cheese in my tuna casserole, noodles stuck between my teeth OR held captive by the crust of my veggie pot pie, cooped up with big ASS potatoes that don't give a damn...
Every day that I look in the mirror, I see me, broken, into thousands of peaces, broken into thousands of pieces, broken into thousands of peas-es.
As I walk through the world trying not to look at your lips or your nose, I aim for your eyes and begin to cry...it's like, your holding up a mirror, full length, wanting me to get the picture, but more than anything, wanting me to see the details...hUmaNITY.Â
Because, I am not you, I am me...I am we and we are, UNITY.
This poem is dedicated to EveryOne, everywhere, who knows what it feels like to be huMAN.
