Feature: FV envies âgloom popâ in newest single âYou Need Itâ
Words by Ravyn Cavanaugh @ravvyn
This week I had the opportunity to sit down with Timmy Waldron from the band FV when they opened up for Vinyl Theatre in Philadelphia and ask him a few questions about the band. For those of you who are unfamiliar with FV, the band consists of; Timmy Waldron who sings and plays guitar, Chris Kitchen who plays drums, Sean McCall who plays guitar and backing vocals and lastly Evan King who plays bass and is the main producer of the band.
Timmy was quick to say âgloom popâ when asked what genre he felt the band fell into. He feels the band has a moody sense to it stating that âWe arenât always singing about the most joyful things.â, which was jokingly followed up with âWeâre all just emo kids at heart.â and I think thatâs something we can all relate to. When asked who the musical parents of FV would be Timmy said The Killers and INXS. He also threw in a third band called Ride, think of it as the bands step mother. Fun fact, FVâs dream tour would be the The National, Into it Over it and The Japanese House so it just goes to show you that the band is influenced by many different musical genres.
