The duo consists of Rich Marukiewitcz (impersonated by songwriter Marijus βMarukasβ Bernotas: vocals, synths, guitar, bass guitar) and Mc Priestess (actress Kristina PaΕ‘keviΔiΕ«tΔ: vocals, songwriting). The comedy duo performs songs that are under the influence from trash-pop, old school rap, happy hardcore, techno, punk, and pop music. Most of their tracks contain satirical lyrics, techno beats, and catchy melody lines. The band sings in broken English with a mix of different Eastern European accents, and in their native Lithuanian, too. In 2019, Humanos Lyga performed in some alternative music festivals including βGreen Happensβ and βFunikulieriusβ, as well as at the βPeronasβ club in Vilnius and some private parties around the country. Their demo songs came out in 2019, among them were cover versions of Lithuanian punk and rap classics βBirutΔ-prostitutΔβ (βBirutΔ The Whoreβ) and βJi kalΔβ (βSheβs a Bitchβ). The band released their first single βTechno Gatheringβ in 2020. Their song βPromo merginosβ (βPromo Girlsβ) has appeared in the 1990βs comedy project CD βFaksimilis ir draugaiβ (βFaximilis and Friendsβ). The band is hosted by βStudio Marukoβ indie artist music label. Humanos Lyga: "The Bio" Rich Marukiewitcz was born, grew up and became an old man in KelmΔs district located close to the Middle-of-Nowhere. His small wooden house stood amongst huge ancient forests. Marukiewitcz, or Maruko, as the fellow villagers called him, was spending his salad days staring at the green meadow, watching his old analogue TV, and listening to the same 1970sβ pop and disco vinyls over and over againβ¦ until one rainy day, tractors came in to destroy his small and rotten wooden apartments down to the ground. A year later, having made a long trip over Lithuaniaβs dark woods and green hills, Maruko came across an abandoned Soviet military base. The place included an old, broken and rusty radio station. From the radio circuits that he could find there, Maruko constructed his own analogue synthesizer. And he did it with his bare hands! With his newly made musical instrument, the old guy desperately tried to reproduce classical disco sounds that he once loved β but his equipment only produced techno and rap music tracks. Then, in the chilly Lithuanian winter, Maruko met a lost young girl who was starving and nearly frozen to death. The girl, who was very beautiful, was an actress from a burnt-down circus. Maruko brought her to his studio and gave her some warm tea and cookies. He made the young lady a present β a heavy and bulky, yet still legendary vintage synthesizer called βVentaβ. βLearn to play the synth, sing and dance. Weβve got to go touring and make some cash. Iβve heard you say that your dream is to buy a house of your own. To be sincere, I also need one for myselfβ, Maruko proudly acknowledged. βOk. Letβs do thatβ, the young lady replied. And so, the duo set out on a long and dangerous journey across the towns and cities of the Middle-of-Nowhere Land.
