So I just checked out on my 3. Airbnb stay and it was so weird and quite bad. Here is the situation: The hosts have quite positive reviews, although they are no superhosts. No review mentioned the following problems: The property has 5 beds, one on the couch, okay. One double bed is under a staircase, where normally you would put your bucket and mob. The picture taken of it, is taken in a way to hide the stair case. The other double is a mattress on the floor, no problem. The room has a hight of about 1 meter, not yoking. Also it is photographed in a way that this fact is not visible, it just looks like a bad picture. The front door is a super big Glas door, like a shop front. Weird, but some how visible on pics, although not clearly. The host told me to let down the electric shutter, so that neighbors could not look in at night. The first night was a short power outage, I started to worry. The next night, last night a big typhoon hit the area, so since then there is no electricity. I was basically trapped in the house, there was no other exit. I mean this region sees typhoons and power outages frequently, so how can one build such a thing? Apart from that I couldn't sleep all night, since the typhoon was throwing around things on their roof, which again I think why? They knew the typhoon was coming, so they had a chance to store things on the roof. It was so noisy, I have to admit I was hell scared, also that someone might brake in over the roof. It might be my subjective fear, still I felt unsafe.Also they preasured my hard to by their services. It started with renting a motorcycle, which I clearly expressed am insecure about my driving skills. But it was late, I was super tired and I agreed. 1 hour later I mustered the courage to tell them, they should come, pick up the motorbike key, I don't want it. They never came, although I said they should drive it into a save place (as they requested from me) before the storm hits. So I pushed the bike myself to the parking lot. I felt unsure of if they would charge me anyway and braised for an argumentation. The did not charged me, one of the few positive things. Yesterday when the typhoon warning came, they messaged me, saying no boats will leave, I should stay with them. At that point I didn't know how bad my night and check out would be. As I said this morning the shutter was closed and I tried to pull it open manually, it was impossible and I'm a good weight lifter...I called and yes, the man came over the roof and connected a generate, so that we could open the shutter. While doing so, he told me again and again, no boat I need to stay. I told him, I check out anyway. I didn't tell h right away that my experience was so bad, I wanted to change to a hotel. I didn't want them to loose face. The he insisted that I leave my big backpack at the property and he drives me to town, for me to check that no boats are going. Again I needed to insist several times that I check out with my bag. He eventually drove me the 2 km or so to town, I offered him payment, he refused. I would have be fine to pay. Then he said he brings me to his friends hotel. He was holding onto my bag while saying it. Then he came up with a ferry in the afternoons and I should come back to his airbnb. Eventually I got my bag and walked to the travel office with whom I have booked the bus boat combo, to discuss further details with them. It was smooth with them. Still I realized the host was observing where I was going. I was in the officefor about 30 minutes then left. Suddenly both hosts popped up beside me on the motorcycle to tell me again, where I want to go, there is no boat today. Then they hopefully drove off although in this small town they could have observed if they wanted.So I don't want any refund, but I want to share these information in the review. I hasitate because on the one hand I don't want to impact their business negatively. Also I wonder why no one ever mentioned the weird sleeping arrangements and weird behavior. Do I expect to much from airbnb in Asia? I had o e stay in a big city and it was an awesome experience. I also have traveled throughout Asia the last 20 years. Seldom or never I had such a weird accommodation, although weird encounters.I would like other travelers to know about their situation, to spare them the hassle and nerves I went through.Any advice?
