RAT Framework
Technology as Replacement: Last year during my freshman year of college, my math professor used this technique every week. Instead of doing written worksheets, we went to the library for three hours a week and did our homework. It ensured that we spent the necessary amount of time studying for the subject and still had the same work we would be doing either way.
Technology as Amplification: Teachers use technology as amplification in every class I’ve been in. Some use PowerPoints to guide the discussion and are able to keep them for later classes. Storing these files makes it easy to use and adapt them for future classes regardless of the assignment.
Technology as Transformation: In a science class, our teacher had us play a game that showed how we heal from injury. It not only taught us the curriculum, but expanded on that knowledge with extra information. There were challenges on each level that were based on problem solving puzzles that we could not have experienced without the use of the game.
