I read the book YEARS ago, and honestly? Not a big fan. I felt that the characters weren’t nearly as bright and dynamic, and that the sister relationship wasn’t nearly as powerful or touching, and the romance in the book didn’t thrill me as much.

Granted, I think I’m just not a fan of Hoffman’s prose -- I’ve read four of her books now, because I keep hoping she’ll click with me because you’d THINK she would click with me and I have a lot of friends who really dig her.

In terms of bad legally blonde productions, my school put on one that was so awful that it was almost avant-guard. Me and my best friend spent the entire time trying not to laugh.

Oh yikes.  I’m about to see the local community theatre summer camp production, basically.  It’ll be iffy as hell to see kids 8-18 singing lyrics like “as you pull her hair and call her whore” buuuut at least I can give them a break because they are babies.

13. “Kiss me.”

“Gil, have you ever kissed anyone?” Anne asked, closing her book and looking at him as if this were a perfectly routine question.

“Um,” Gilbert began, feeling he was on very uncertain ground, “Yes, I have.”

“Is it as magical as people make it sound?” she asked, and he wished she wouldn’t keep looking at him quite so directly.

“Uh, based on my limited experience, it’s… fun?  But I don’t know if I’d say magical,” he said, trying to keep his expression neutral. “Of course, that could be because it wasn’t with the right person.”

“That makes sense,” she replied, expression shifting from contemplative to decisive. “Gil, I would like you to kiss me.”
