Prince Rampion!
Something I’ll never quite get over is the fact that in my childhood movie repitore of princesses, Barbie’s Rapunzel has always been my Rapunzel and today kids see Disney’s Rapunzel as their Rapunzel.
It’s just weird.
Also, am I alone in that I always thought Barbie’s rendintions of Fairy Tales have always been better than Disney’s?
There’s almost no female passivity in Barbie movies, which disney is only recently overcoming (I will concede that Frozen did this well). I think Princess and the Pauper is one of the best movies out there because it really showcases the difference between female passivity and general responsibility. They show that they would want to do different things, but they can’t because they have a duty to their kingdom/survival. Like, that’s way more cooler than “I have to marry this prince because Mom says so.”

You will never convince me that Tangled Rapunzel is a painter for any other reason than Barbie’s Rapunzel was also a painter. She being a painter was NOT in the original faerie tale and I REFUSE To believe otherwise.
